How to find a group

I am very new to SL and was wondering how you can find out more infomations about groups?

Do you have to Contact each group and ask questions or is there a place that lists the groups and what they are about?

A group of us Roleplayers are looking for a variety of roleplaying groups that have to do with Vampires, Fae, and Changlings.

Any help would be great.

The search button at the bottom of the screen brings up a dialog box with a tab that lets you search for groups.

This search system is rather impaired currently because your search term has to match the beginning of the group title, which means you won't find "Dracula's Kin" by searching for "vampire" even though the group charter has the word vampire in it.

Still, a search with the "all" tab for vampire wouldn't hurt.

Improvements to the search system are supposed to be on the way; when exactly I don't know.

Searching the forums might produce some results. There is a page in the forums here for group forums, some group there might be one of interest to you.

Word of mouth (or hand) might work, drop by crowds and just ask the people there.

Googling, oops, websearching for "Second Life" and "Changeling" and such sets of search terms might yield some results.

And copying your post and posting it in the resident run web sites might help too.
