I am new to the forums, and have yet to find where to go to rectify the problem I am having. The one or two upgrades I have "suffered" through I have had to totally uninstall SL off my computer, then re-install from www.secondlife.com. It is not working that way this time. I am getting the following error message: Error opening file for writing C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings\mozilla\components\pipnss.dll Click Abort to stop the installation Retry to try again or Ignore to skip this file. Second Life will not start if I ignore the files (there are more than one that was just an example) Help please! Or point me in the direction best to go to find answers! Thanks much.

Moofasa-- When you uninstall SecondLife, are you making sure the \Program Files\SecondLife folder is also removed?
From your explanation, it sounds like the dll files are still in use. If you can't remove the SecondLife folder, reboot, then try deleting the folder. If some of the files are in-use, then the reboot may clear up that situation and allow you to comletely remove the SecondLife folder prior to reinstallation.

^^what Trevor said. Also, as a mozilla component is involved.. From: someone Error opening file for writing C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings\mozilla\components\p ipnss.dll
..ensure your internet browser is not running when installing or uninstalling Second Life because that might lock the ipnss.dll file, preventing its re-installation or removal.

ah yes disk space..lol I do have that hehee
SL has changed the settings for my screen...I was viewing SL at full screen and experiancing crashes....so much so I just dubbed myself Queen Crash and let it be.
I just navigated to a few different places in SL, and opened up a link to a website (a SURE THING crash before) and no crash. The reason for my having the view on full screen, is I cannot use the teleport feature after using search? I just cannot see the button to teleport as it is hidden by my the toolbar at the bottom.
Any advice there? I'd sure like to leave my view as is, and experiance much less CRASHING!...or go buy a crown hehehee

hurrah! you got it installed. As for the search screen/teleport button problem, i wonder if your screen resolution is adequately set. Your desktop should ideally be set to at least 800x600 for example, and this should be reflected on Second Life's > Preferences > Graphics tab. Anything smaller than 800x600 and the Search screen will be too big for the SL user interface, which is why the teleport button gets hidden. i hope i'm making sense.
