Oddty last night. Whenever I arrived on my parcel, i'd start floating upwards. Could never move down towards land, flying or not. If I sat on something, I stayed put: but no standing up was gonna work. and not just me, either - any vistors suffered the same fate.Indoors, we would rise to the ceiling and stay there: outdoors, we just kept on rising.
I positioned my av under a handy overhang to stay still, and looked a the object manifest on my land. Two new objects (despite the "create objects" tickbox being unticked in the land properties box); I PMed the apparent owner and told her I was returning them. The instant I returned them, the "float-up" behaviour ceased.
I wasn't happy with the responses I got from the owner of the object, who seemed to have a few issues centred on the fact that I owned land - apparently this is the new proletarian sin these days - and that I was male: at least, those formed the body of her excuses for not giving polite straight answers to my question about the objects she left on my parcel.
So, the questions are:
- Is this a bug or is it technically feasible to drop something on a parcel that makes everyone - including the owner - rise continuously into the air? Why can't I refuse permission for whatever-this-is to operate on me? There's a whole load of other "consensual check" philosophy in the design, which is what makes me think this is weird rather than malicious.
- Why can't I stop people leaving their crap on my land? I don't want to close it - I certainly agree with those who regard blanket closure as rude and inconvenient - but I do want to be able to find it without cars parked on it, smoking shotgun shells landed on it from someone's debugging session, and whatever-the-hell this orbitring thingy was
- is it impossible for the object list to tell you what things are and let you manipulate them from there, instead of having to actually walk about until you can find them?
- lastly, if this is a childish hack and therefore an attack by my neighbours for whatever twisted reason they think makes sense, what's my redress?

If they appeared again, I'd contact a Linden via Live Help (if any) and try to get them in on your situation.

Communistic/socialistic ideas like this look good on paper, but don't work in real life. People who go about pushing these ideas usually are the proletariat looking to increase their wealth and power. Chances are this is a landowner, or alt of a landowner in your sim looking for more land. They either can't find suitable land, or will not pay current prices for it, so they have started using the old "grief them till they sell cheap" method. Look for really low offers to buy your land from this user or others in the coming days/weeks. Or, this could just be a normal greifer, doing this for "fun". AR them is all you can do without facing banning yourself.

I think you are right, Tygaris - it's a "bad neighbour" policy. Someone;s identifie themselves as the boss of the group and is now continually sandbagging the issue away from their misdemeanour.
Actually, scratch that. Looks like it's a bad case of RL jealousy, because I've linked my SL character to my RL activities. Talk about needing to get a grip...
