I am trying to accept a partner proposal and it doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas?

It's a "known issue" right now. From the blog:

If you’re unable to get partnering working for you, please contact us at [email=support@secondlife.com]support@secondlife.com[/email] with the specific details, including your Second Life name and the name of the Resident you’re trying to partner with.
