How do I set permission so that one specific friend can create objcts on my land and edit terrain? I figured out how to let anyone do these things but I want to limit the permission to one resident.

There are several ways, all of which involve groups. If you create a group, and deed the land to the group, and invite that friend into the group, you can use the group tools to grant that friend the ability to do any of several things, including those that you list, without granting those abilities to anyone else. Merely setting your land to a specific group gives you similar abilities, but severely limited, and may not be sufficient for your needs. Deeding the land, on the other hand, has problems of its own. Otherwise, I believe that you cannot do it at all. Do please research the group feature.

You'll have to set up a group, set the land to that group, and invite her to join the group. Then use the group roles permissions to grant her those abilities.
Not sure, but you MAY have to deed the land to the group as well, and not just set it to that group. {edit} Llauren, you type faster than I do! Better worded answer, too! {/edit} _____________________

Just cautionary note to add to what the others have said: If you deed land on the maingrid ie if you pay tier to Linden Lab, be aware that any officers in that group can set the land to sell to themselves & run off with it if you don't have the group perms set up correctly. Make sure that you go through all group permissions and set them appropriately before inviting others as officers

I find it just easier to set permission for anyone can build while friend or someone I hired is building.
I heard the group thing your officers can sell your land if you're not careful |

I heard the group thing your officers can sell your land if you're not careful This is true and I do the same thing, but if you create the group, create a few roles and set the permissions before invitation, they cannot sell it (also make sure that you checkmark, or uncheck as the case may be to split the money upon sale, in case you ever sell it). That IS one good thing the Lindens implemented is the new group features. It used to be just officers and everyone's, and you couldn't set perms. |

One thing that would make things a LOT easier is to "grant modify rights" to the other AV. You better damned well trust them using this method.
No groups involved at all. _____________________
