There is an animation state called Striding. Can anyone tell me what it is and how to achieve it using the keyboard?

I'm guessing it's some sort of walk?

I *think* it is when you're sliding downhill faster than you'd normally walk, but I am not sure.

Striding is an extra-large filler walk that kicks in on uneven ground or prims, it looks a little like stumbling.
For downhill, the walk switches over to running (it will show as Running in llGetAnimation but not in llGetAgentinfo).
ETA: these re automatic things; you can force running with ^R or double-tap, but striding depends on the environment.

Does it kick in at, say, the start of a prim slope, before going into a full downhill run? I seem to recall I've seen something "in between" there?

From: Tali Rosca But can you go from walking into downhill/"downprim" run without going through striding? It seems so, yeah. But llGetAnimation is kind of lossy, it's just snapshot and doesn't trigger an event, so what we can observe isn't necessarily what always really happened :/

But nasty stumbling, right? (Filling in while 3Ring is on break)

From: Perre Anatine Is this a joke or do you guys genuinely not know what 'striding' is...? Well in real life you can stride across a room or down the street. In SL you can only do it when the software decides you should be clumsy. ETA: OR EVEN NASTY OK?!

From: Monica Balut There is an animation state called Striding. Can anyone tell me what it is and how to achieve it using the keyboard? I always thought it required pose balls...... Definition of Stride: 3. To stand or sit astride; straddle. Idioms: hit (one's) stride 1. To achieve a steady, effective pace.
