Red Mist

I was trying some key combinations that I'd seen hereabouts - specifically Ctl-Alt-Shift-U, Ctl-Alt-Shift-D and Ctl-Alt-Shift-5 - and now I get a red mist appearing every time I left-click on something. Also, every function in edit produces it (eg with spinners I get a rapidly repeated occurence of the red thingy), my Av produces it when crossing the barrier between sims, all objects with active scripts (eg hover text) permanently produce it - and, best of all, all other AVs have clouds of Blue smoke trailing when they move.

I am assuming this is the result of some key combination that I've hit but it could be that I've accidentally enabled something from a menu. Does anyone know how to turn this effect off? It happened yesterday and is still there when I logged on today.

Thanks

It sounds like you might have "Highlight Transparent" checked. If you go to your VIEW menu, look for anything with an X next to it and uncheck it until things look normal again. There are a lot of interesting settings in the debug menu, but if it was something with a key combination assigned to it, I'll bet the setting is in the VIEW menu.

Control Alt T will show that.
The same combo should turn it off as well.

I use it to find small or hidden objects.

Hi man...

That exact same thing happened to me about a week ago.
There was I feeling noobish, and wondering if that has ever happened to anyone before...

I even tried a lot of key combinations again, and now Im some sort of kb shortcut freak.

None of the 2 tips worked to turn the damn thing off, and they both do the same: highlights nearly everything on the map, making it all red, as in the objects turn red, which is different from what me and the dude who started this thread are experiencing...

I do hope someone ever manages to turn it off :x

This is a Client menu option. It shows UPDATES. I forget teh quick commands and can nto go inworld atm to check. Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D will display the Client menu at teh top of your viewer if it's not there already (You can access quick keys without the menu being visible).

Look under Rendering, I think. It's called "Show Updates" and has nothing to do with the viewer updates from LL *grins*. What it is showing is everything that requires the server to update the client and vice versa (I think. A bit beyond my tech skills).

Just un-X that option and viola, no more red mist. Or blue. Or green. Or various other colors that I have no idea what the codes are *Snickers*

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

Yay!! Thanks Jessica. Its Control+Alt+Shift+U if anyone's interested. Tbh, I thought I'd already tried that from the menu but evidently not. I remember using the key combination when I was playing around now. I've no idea what I thought it would do but it certainly wasn't that!!

Brenda - if you're so afraid of Martians are you sure SL's really the place for you??

I have a Sink Plunger of Martian Killing handy for that! :D
But oh, the fun I have had trying random key combos and then getting stuck with weird settings. The one to get rid of the ground is fun. (ctrl alt shift 5)

Stop by and I'll show you my AV sometime - suffice it to say that no mere Foil Hat's gonna save ya (Mwahahahaha ect.). Now a Sink Plunger wielded with intent is a more worrying prospect altogther - we Martians are know for our vulnerable Sinks.

What ground by the way?
