My neighbour is a talented scripter that develops all sorts of colourful animated particles. He's also go a script that produces clouds, rain and snow.

At times the particles and weather fronts his scripts produces end up on my parcel, at a very low level.

I don't mind my land being adjacent to where all this happens and I generally enjoy mainland crazines... but I don't want giant rainbow coloured squares going through my building.

Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

I did ask a few times. Once I asked him weather he could make the rain stop and got snow.. hehehe.

If you mute him, or if you mute the object creating the particles, I believe you'll mute the particles. You won't see them. Anyone visiting you still would, but you wouldn't.

I'll do that - thanks.

But is he allowed to do that? Ultimately I don't want anything he produces on my land.

no he is not authorised to rain on your parade. I drop a polite IM to the noisy neighbor and if I dont get a prompt response I file a complaint and make a phone call to hurry things along. GET THAT RAINBOW OFF MY LAWN YA PUNK!!!

i have a similar problem to lhorentso's .

a neighbor on an adjacent sim has 2 different emissions.. flags and smoke .. coming from the same prim. i guess the prevailing winds never change coz they always drift over to my and my neighbors' plots.

i took ceera's advice. i muted him and the prim ... but only got rid of the smoke. unfortunately, the flags still emit.

but i guess that's better than nothing. :)

Cooperation usually works better than complaining. First get to know your neighbor, let him know you think he's talented and you're impressed by his scripts. Find any other areas of mutual interest you two might have. Try to get to know and like the guy, and vice versa. Then mention the little issue about the particles. Ask him if he would consider making a skybox for his lab, so that particles would drift way high up and you'd never see them.

You don't have to buy a skybox, btw. There are free ones and they're easy to make yourself. A little research might help. If the guy's a good builder, he'll probably know this stuff, but find any way you can to help.

Find out if there are any changes you could make to your property that would enhance his. You may find that there are a number of things you can do as friendly neighbors to improve each others' lots. You might also find other neighbors who are interested in cooperating.

Egon, muting a neighbor can lead to undesired consequences, especially if the neighbor has some issues regarding your property that you aren't aware of.

I make a little message box that could help in this situation. I haven't marketed it yet, so if you want one, just IM me ingame and I'll give you one. You just set the box out and anyone can add a message by chat on some channel. No, not griefer proof. But if you find you have to mute a neighbor for some reason, you might let him know you did and why, and point to the message box where he can get your attention if he needs to. BTW, it also accepts email from outworld.

thx lear.

sorry, i guess i wasn't thorough in my post.

i "tested" the idea of muting him by going thru "about land". i then un-muted him and tried muting the prim itself. i just tried this coz i stumbled on this thread and wondered if such a thing really woks.

i still don't know why the second particle emitter still works tho.

anyway, i have never seen this neighbor in the 4 months i've had this land ... and so probably never will. he's not a direct neighbor. his land is a few 512 plots away from mine across the sim border and his particles are not a real problem for me.
