Island Ownership and Premium

I hope this is the right place for this query.
I have bought an island and shall be paying the monthly maintenance charge at the end of my first month. Can someone please let me know if I have to carry on paying Premium ($9.95 per month) as well? I no longer own any land on the mainland.
I really am unsure of this, not least because I have had conflicting advice on this from Live Help, and e-mails sent to Linden:

[10:39] Christi Maeterlinck: So I have to carry on paying the $9.95 a month, $72 a year, as well as the island maintenance charge?
[10:39] Rheya Linden: That's correct

We do not require any premium memberships in order for residents to
qualify to be a private region owner.
-Fritz Linden

Kind regards

Cyn, Fritz and Jack Linden are all part of the concierge team, and as Torley pointed out in one similar Linden Answer, they're the ones to listen to :).

You can try and repost your question in the Linden Answers forums, because anyone who'll comment here will just be a resident with advice :). That said, I'd just suggest sending off an email to concierge@lindenlab.com with the question and asking how you'd best go about cancelling your premium account. Other than that, the 'Concierge Welcome' notecard contains the concierge phone number to contact to actually speak to a live person.

Given the whole rush of getting islands, I assume the concierge team is probably rather swamped right now so it might take quite a bit of nudging to get a final answer.

Look here http://secondlife.com/whatis/landpricing.php. It states that "Note: Island billing is separate from land use fees." Every time this question has been asked, the answeer I have always heard is it is possible to own a private island with a basic account.
