I've searched the Knowledge base, the forums and except for less than helpful FAQ I can not find instructions on how to setup the ALT account.

Can someone post instructions please?

Same way you set up your original account, although you'll probably need a separate email address.

I found in the knowledge base that you can have 5 accounts per email address. I have set up a few alts, but I cannot find how to pay for them. Any help would be appreciated.

I was told by Varas Linden that they are redoing the registration system, and alt accounts are unavailable right now. No ETA was given for this to be fixed.

So I guess we just wait... or create one by "cheating" and using a different email address.... but some who have tried this ran into trouble with logging in with the new account. So I am just waiting for now.

When are the Lindens finally getting their story straight on this? This must be the gazillionth different explanation for the borked alt creation process. The best of course being (after it had already been borked for at least a month) "this is the first time I hear about it".
