Got a lot of freebie objects. Was trying them out on my land (private sim). Can't 'take' one of them. It looks like a fiber-optic lamp, just sitting there on the ground, goading me with its immovability.
Was able to right-click and 'take' the other objects OK.
How do I get rid of it? I am a newbie.

Ha! Its core mass was tiny, so I wasn't clicking on the object, just its effect. Got rid of it [relieved].

Heya Tiger.
it's possible that the sparkle effects of the object are so big that the actual object inside the mass of sparkles may be smaller than its particle radius.
Try hitting Control-Alt-D to enable the CLIENT and SERVER settings (You'll see two new menus at the top labeled 'Client' and 'Server' next to 'Help')
Now hit Control-Alt-Shift-= ... that will hide all particles (doing it again will show them all again)
Now hit Control-Alt-T ... that will let you see any transparent items (they will be red-tinted, hit it again to return to normal view)
Once both are enabled, you should be able to see the item that's generating the sparkles, and can probably take or delete it.

Another method one could try is to enter edit mode, and then click and drag from beyond one corner of the object to the other, drawing a box around it to select it.

.
Another helpful tool here is to go to the View menu and select Beacons>Particles. This will allow you to see the actual source and select it.
