I run a multitude of businesses in SL that do require my presence on a daily basis to get work done...
Right now I am in the hospital which blocks access to SL and even text viewers like Meta-Bolt, although I can logon to messengers like Yahoo, Google Talk, AOL. I need to get some work done, not to mention I'm bored and can't seem to find a viewer or text viewer that will work here.
I've tried the main viewer...no...I've tried Meta-Bolt...no.... I was able to login to AjaxLife earlier today, but I think because so many people are on the network here at the hospital right now, its not letting me sign on.
Is there SOME viewer out there that I can use where I can at least have access to my friends list, IMing people, groups...would love access to inventory and able to TP to places and sit on objects, etc, like Meta-Bolt does, but I won't push that.

I don't see any signs of any other still running web based SL clients that might work through a firewall at work without installing any software.
Perhaps some sort of "Remote Control" program to operate a text client running at home?

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Perhaps some sort of "Remote Control" program to operate a text client running at home? Yep - before my work blocked the access, I used GoToMyPC.com to remote back to my home pc from work and browse the forums from there. I would definitely only run a text based client that way. Rendering the GUI thru 2 computers will be horrendous.

Have a look at this VPN web service, that might help you to connect even with the normal viewer. Although the free account is a little too slow for SL. http://www.your-freedom.net/[edit]I almost forgot to say: Get well![/edit]

If you can have the text client running on your home computer, might also look into TightVNC, which lets you run remotely and is usually not blocked by firewalls. The GUI is a little too slow for really using one of the graphics clients. Well, it works, but not fun. If you would be sitting somewhere without many people and not moving around a lot it does work, though.
