I'm willing to pay a fair price for an excellent software package that translates to and from German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, etc.

Suggestions please with URL's ? Thank you so much for your time !

There is no such thing as excellent translation software. Sure, it can give you the gist of something (if you are lucky and the original text was written obeying all the rules of proper grammar, spelling etc) but unless you understand the target language and can correct the many mistakes the software will spew out, it will not be very useful. It can, however, provide you with hours of entertainment and laughter :D

It all depends if you want to just "understand" the general meaning of what was written in another language or if you are looking for professional output that will look as if it was written in the native language. If it's the latter, then the only way to go if with a human translator.

Now, if you really want to buy translation software, check out Systran. It is, in my opinion, one of the best ones out there. I have used it in the past and the results were decent. However, it doesn't matter if it's a free translation program or a very expensive one, the quality of the output will only ever be as good as the original text.

The bottom line is that no translation software will ever give you 100% accuracy but Systran will give you some decent"results.

The major issue with ingame methods, is that they require bouncing off an external parser to strip a return string down to small enough for an sl object to understand. Once released, such tools end up consuming a lot of bandwidth for the person who wrote the scripts, and typically they are either killed by their ISP, or they are whacked by the translation engine (babelfish, google, etc) for over use.

Setting the same thing up for your own use, and only allowing yourself and a few friends access solves that problem. :)
