Coordinates When Building

Forgive me for asking this question but im stumped.

Im trying to build some objects, however I like to input all the values in the XYZ input boxes when building. I think this makes it quicker.

How does the co-ordinate system work, is it from the centre of the prim?

For individual prims, I believe it is from the centre of the prim. For linksets, I believe it is from the centre of the root prim.
