I just bought a new mic/headset and when i try and click the lock to open my voice it doesnt do anything? does anyone know if theres a problem?? please let me know. Its like i cant switch to talk mode?? anyone know??

try using the button you set for push to talk. it's middle mouse button by default. that works for me even with the "lock" grayed out

i believe before you use voice, you should get a connection to the voice server message.
check also if you have a white dot on top of your avatar's head. if not, voice is not enabled yet, goto your settings and use the wizard.
