From: KPN Writer hi , we just bust into a problem, is it possible to have non-player -character in sl, just like a robot moving around which is controled by the script or BOT . last time i saw a video showing there is non-avatar object talking to a avatar . i don't know whether it is a NPC? Is anyone can help me or find concerned info ? thank you very much please contact me with following email: wdlin@126.com One person invented Giraffes that wandered about of their own accord, i suppose one could do the same with a human shaped object, and Add various proximity sensing scripts that would cause it to Say, or Do specific things. It would never Really be Mistaken for an Avatar though, being prim based. I have a poisonous insect that wanders about a given area, if you get within a certain range of it, it will bite you, The effect of course works only if the Person approaching the bug is wearing a certain object, but that shouldn't be a problem to arrange in a Role Playing Sim. I have a water imp that pops up out of the water, and teases people or Challenges them to a Riddle game if they get within a Couple of meters of the waters edge. If you Win the game it dispenses a Gift from an inventory of several choices, if you lose it dispenses Insults from a list of several choices as well. I suppose this could be Classed as an NPC as well. it's Possible, it will just take A fair bit of multidisciplined Work, and Planning. Angel.

It actually would be possible, to make a simple bot script and plug it in to a bare-bones bot client, to behave in more or less whatever fashion you care to program. Bots like this already exist, but mostly are limited to land-grab bots and similar.
