I recently went to a store. I'll go ahead and mention it: DE Designs. I made 3 clothing purchases. Wore them for an hour. TP'd to another location and they were GONE!!! I was naked. Nowhere to be found in my inventory. Not lost and found, not as returned objects, NOWHERE. This was on a Saturday afternoon US Eastern time. Furthermore, for the rest of the night, my avatar would not load. Shape was wrong, skin, everything!! When i came back about an hour later, it was there. So, on Sunday, the next day, did the same thing. Went back to DE Designs, made the purchases again to replace what I lost (cool clothes). Same thing!!! I got acknowledgement of the sale but they never appeared in my inventory. And my avatar kept screwing up again. I have cleared the cache a million times, even performed a uninstall/new install 3 times. Any suggestions? I have read the blog on SecondLife web page about this but nothing has helped.

Have you checked your transaction history on the SL web site? I'm curious to know if the transactions are indeed being recorded there, and I assume you are suffering from a declining L$ balance in world as you are making the purchases. Do both your L$ balance in world also match what it shows in your account details on the SL web site?

Do both your L$ balance in world also match what it shows in your account details on the SL web site? The balance in transaction history for my account on this web site matches exactly what it says inworld. So, my purchases are being recorded and acknowledged but i have nothing to show for it. And yes, my $L balance shrinks. I have responded to Linden Labs. They have an article about Lost Inventory on their blog and used the email response from that blog to them about this situation. The first email just generated a generic response from them. I know they get flooded with emails but they can try and help. The second email I just wrote to them explaining it all over again and for them to restore my $L. It is not my fault SL is crashing and taking my money with it. LOL!! We will see.

Have you contacted the store owner? The merchant may replace your lost items.

The same thing happened to me. Bought an outfit, wore it. tp'ed, ended up naked... outfit gone. Nowhere to be found after logging / relogging / clearin cache / checking lost and found / doing hokey pokey, etc.
I just bought it again instead of risking sounding like a lunatic. (Which I'm not, seriously)

You really should contact the store owner. We all know that these things happen, and most of us will happily provide a replacement. And we won't think you're a lunatic, really. Love Suzi

lost inventory

Thanks guys - i have contacted the store owner, Doc Eldritch of DE Designs. He responded back quickly. However, he said this happened to many stores on Saturday, and many people lost half their inventory across SL. Looking at other posts in this forum seems to confirm that. He told me this is the worst incidenc(es) of this phenomenon he has seen in 3 years.
He told me to wait and see what LL does because THEY should be pressured to do something. He told me he was in negotiations with LL about this very issue. So, i have sent a 3rd email to LL and also copied the email to the store owner. We will see what happens.
And yes, i also went back and repurchased the same items the next day and they too are gone! I have a fear of trying to do it a third time. It is a shame because DE Designs is a very cool clothing store. Huge!!! I talked to other residents shopping there and they said lost inventory had never happened to them at this store. They said they had purchased many items from his store and never happened to them. Thanks again for suggestions.

I agree Saturday was very bad. I've seen days just as bad in the 6 months of my SL history. Waiting for LL to do something is pointless. They will do nothing. The store owner should help you out if they are so inclined, but technically, they aren't responsible. As a store owner myself, I can say I replaced items for everyone that lost their purchases that day, even if they lost it due to rezzing. I didn't have to, but I sympathized deeply with their pain. Saturday was horrible.

This was a horrid weekend SL wise, at least for me. Similar stuff happened to me. I was Skydiving at Abbott's, when suddenly all my clothes vanished. I was standing on the pad naked. Ironically my parachute was still there. I had th Avi problem throughout the weekend as well. Usually it sorts itself out after a restart. A good habit to have is to clear your cache before you start the game.

I think it's the default 'Ruth' shape, but I wouldn't swear to it. You know, male avs often show up as briefly female when they log in or teleport...it seems like the process was getting stuck at that step, rather than continuing so you morphed into your chosen shape.

Just like in RL..we all start female. Then the nightmare begins.......

On an only semi-related note, there have actually been several studies which more or less prove that all men have brain damage, caused by testosterone eating away at the corpus callosum.

This store owner acknowledge the problem, but still didn't give you freebie copies, and you went and had to repurchase again?!?!. Hmmm, any problems i've had in the past, the store owner has always provided me with another copy free of charge, I'm surprised this one didn't.

I must have been an unwitting participant in those studies then, perhaps even in the Control Group.

You misread. The OP made the second purchase before contacting the store owner. It sounds to me like this particular store owner will help the OP, but wishes to give LL a chance to rectify the situation first.

The store owner himself, one of the best clothing stores in SL in my opinion, bit store, told me he was in negotionas with the LL and what they were going to do about it. He also told me in his 3 years of being on SL, while thiese things happen, that this past weekend was the worst. He said it happened to many stores and many people-some losing over half their inventory. But, yes, after two days, the store owner did indeed credit my account with everything i lost and thanked me for supporting his store. I highlly recommend DE Designs.
