HI there,

A while ago i hired a friend to make a sign for my store and i payed her for this, what i didnt realise is that i should have got the texture off her as well.
Now i want to use this texture again for other purposes but i dont think she plays anymore as i never see her online anymore.
Is there any way i can get my texture back if she is not playing SL anymore?

Also it possble for me to download this texture from SL so i can modify with photoshop, gimp etc?
Or is it actually the original photoshop file that i am after?

Well, if you have the texture on a 1-prim sign in-world, you can probably duplicate that prim to make a second sign.

There are ways to get the texture, but honestly? You're better off just getting a new sign made. You would then have the full-perms texture for use as needed.

If you are wanting maximum modification ability, it is the original file you'd want, not the bitmap you could get from SL. The original file could be a PSD file, but it could also be an Illustrator file, or a Coreldraw file, or whatever format was used to create the original.

If you are talking about the Superheroes Casino sign, which has "Superheroes" in arc text, with a version of the Superman "S" symbol, and "Casino" below, with the original file and a program that can edit it properly you'd probably be able to change "Casino" to "Gambling Den" or modify the lighting and shading on the lettering or maybe move the text so the parts of the "S" symbol that are covered up would show, while with a bitmap you would have to basically recreate it - and you could do that just by looking at it SL and reproducing it to the best of your ability using the program of your choice.

If you haven't tried this yet, select the object and see if the File Save Texture As option is activated - if it is you can get a bitmap of the object.

If nothing else is possible, you can take a screenshot of your SL window after zooming in on the sign. Paste that screenshot into an image editing software and edit it.
