I was just looking through my transaction history to check up on a few things I bought, when i noticed this charge
Date: 2007-07-17 11:43:47 Type: Group Liability Destination: Ravenglass Rentals
It was only for 4L so Im not overally concerned, but I was just curious what Group Liability was.. I was not aware there was any more charges once you paid the rent... Does anyone know what Group Liability is? Does everyone get charged this when part of a group?

you need to talk to the owner of the group they may not realize they have everyone in the liabilities and income settings a simple check box although usually its for some sort of classified add like land showing up in search places and such

Look through your contract. When i rented with Ravenglass a while back there was a clause about the liability charges- basically it's for advertisement and I remember it begin somewhat limited to parcels that were also offered free limited shop space =)

for some reason i notice that when times get slow groups start turning this one I had been in several groups on my list for a long time (6 months i consider long for this) and last week i got 5 groups suddenly charging this group liability. Left them all and the one I cared about I sent a chat. Either some bug has his sl to cause them to toggle on in some instances or they just needed money not sure but I kinda think that particular option should be tossed if they want to collect from the group they should not have this "group stealth" mode that can be turned on and off at a whim. Its not a lot but imagine if every group on your list did this and you only were a casual player with a few lindens to start with. Could logon and find your account empty if you were gone for a month or so.

What LL should do is if the group owner turns on group liability, then everyone in the group should automatically gets a notice that they are now liable for group land.

This came up last week also, I am a renter in ravenglass myself and recall the group IM discussion, apprently there is a clause in the rental agreement where as a condition of the lease, the group pays the liability (currently $L4/week) to offset the rental advertisements.
I guess it bugs some, I certainly don't mind the $L4 fee, since the $L250/week "newbie" rate for the 1024 plot I have there is so durn cheap.
