abuse report filed against me

Earlier today i was gambling at ocean casino. I was playing a machine and the jackpot was at 500. I put enough money to get it into the 530's but then i had to go and do something in RL. When i cam back the jackpot was at 581 so i decided to gamble some more.

Anyway i ended up winning the jackpot of 600. Then i recieved an IM saying
" Hee you stole my jackpot
I will report you, because you did it to more people
You pay me niow half of the jackpot
Or I will report you to linden for stealing".

I considered this blackmail so told him to go away. I do not see how he could say i stole his jackpot as i do not see how it could belong to him. He does not own the casino.

He then proceded to get very abusive and filed an abuse report against me. So i copied the conversation into a notecard and also filed a abuse report.
NOw i dont really care if he gets kicked out or not. That doesnt worry me.
But i dont want to get kicked out myself as i have only been here 2 months and am really starting to enjoy it.
If i wrong then i am willing to make amends as i dont want my account cancelled.

Is there anything i should do to help my cause? send linden support an email similar to this post maybe. or contact a linden in game maybe (If so how do i find them?)


What do other people think about this? should i have given him money? did he really have a right to the jackpot? Was i really stealing? (the way i see it i was just gambling)

Any advice would be great as i really dont want to losse my account.

You didn't do anything wrong and giving him the jackpot is exactly what he wants you to do -- something you shouldn't do. LL really doesn't suspend/ban many people and you can rest assured that nothing will happen to you as you did nothing wrong whatsoever.

well he is claiming that i am stealing becuase i will gamble when the jackpot is close and if other people are going for it.
it is true that i do gamble on a machine if think the jackpot is close or if i see someone else going for it.
But on many occasions i am the one who misses out and i dont complain. I did the same thing just before but this time i asked the person who was gambling if they would mind if i joined in. She had no problem with it and we ended up having a good chat.

Do remember that all gambling games involve a degree of chance. You didn't know you would win when you did. That's the reason you didn't do anything wrong -- you were just playing the gambling game like anyone else did.

Think of it in real life... If I go to a slot machine and I observe a guy lose over and over and over again. He then leaves in frustration. I decide to go play at his machine. After several minutes of playing, I win. Then somehow this guy finds out I won and is angry. Yes, he has a right to be angry as HE made the mistake of leaving. You, on the other hand, did nothing wrong. HE can blame himself but certainly not you. It's quite possible you could have lost at the machine just like he did -- but you didn't, so good for you and I hope those lindens come in handy

I wouldn't worry too much about that: he may sent thousands reports to LL, but Lindens aren't fools either; he must prove them how you've allegedly stealing him and believe me, it will take more than a whiny AR titled "he stole my jackpot" with blank details to kick you out of SL...

Isn't that the point of the progressive jackpots, anyway?

Always be wary of anyone demanding money for any reason. Especially as the way to
resolve some sudden claim or problem.

I was speaking to a customer via IM yesterday and as it happens he showed me
what a person was saying to him about making some demand for money, right at that time.

So I IM'ed the guy and gave him a chance to explain himself, and he had nothing to say.

So I asked him not to come back.

If you follow all the rules yourself it is extremely unlikely you will get into trouble regardless
of what anyone else says.

And if someone tells you otherwise or demands money, always get a second opinion.

I also don't like deals that have a deadline to buy, that is usually the hallmark of a scam.
The only exception to that I can see is a land purchase, but great care must be taken in those too.

He can AR you if he wants to, Nothing will come of it because the Lindens will Not get involved in Monitary disputes between Players.
If you Played the machine, and Won on it the Money is Yours, and No one else has any other kind of Claim on it.
It was an amateurish extrotion attempt, and the Best thing you could do is report this person directly to the Casino Owner as a Scam Artist. You won't see him around that Casino again.

Sounds like a ransom to me. Pay me now or i make you out to be a thief. Nothing more. I don't think you got anything to worry about. LL doesn't seam to read abuse reports anyway. ;p
