Are there any residents browsing who ordered an island November 1st? You know, that huge rush.

I have two questions.

1. Were you forewarned that you would be charged the $1,250 right away?

(As it has always been we were not charged hat $1,250usd Set-up fee until our island was set up)

2. Is it just me, or weren`t we told we would definitely be getting these islands at the latest December 15th, 2006?

And for those nosey, snobby people thinking "Psh shut up what does it matter" :) ...well

1. I don`t remember being told they would immidiately charge me the $1,250usd so i`m thinking perhaps there WAS a warning on November 1st and I missed it- I would like to know.

and

2. I quote Robin Linden: "Islands purchased since November 1 will be online by the end of the year."

Is s/he meaning here that this is for islands purchased November 2nd and after? Or is this another deceptive move from LL?

All I know is I purchased my island on the 1st, was immidiately charged, then told to give them by December 15th. Are they trying to change that December 15th mark to December 31st now? Would like some insight on this from other residents who have also made purchases or who have been following this.

I have some friends who recently bought an island, and while I am not "in the loop" enough to know precisely when they bought it (it seems likely before the 1st, though) or whether they were immediately charged, I can tell you that they were told it would be delivered by the 15th of December and they have recently received.

I think that LL is doing everything they can to meet demand, and are just trying to give themselves a little wiggle room "just in case". Like the fact that people who attack the grid with self-replicating objects just seem to do so randomly, and I would be willing to bet that such a thing puts off the "setting up new islands" schedule by at least a day each time.

Sorry I can't provide better info, hopefully someone will chime in with the rest.

I ordered my island right at 1pm on Nov 1st and if I remember correctly the information made it very clear that you will be charged immediately for the set up fee. Your tier doesn't start counting until the island is delivered, though. My island was delivered on Sunday, Nov 19. At the time they did say that they planned to have all new islands delivered by Dec 15, but that date was adjusted later on due to the sheer magnitude of orders.

Ah ok thats what i was wondering- I must have just missed the "you will be immidiately charged" due to the whole rush thing.

However i got NO email or anything saying the december 15th date has been moved back.

I really dont want an island near christmas time, I do imagine many will be busy and wont have time to set it up

They really need to then send out emails to everyone APOLOGIZING for the inconvenience and then stating they have to move the quoted date of Dec 15th back.

I wonder why this changed. The two other sims that we have already weren't charged until we received the sims.

Yeah, why did it change? Did they need the money for something? o0

Well in any case, thanks everyone for the current replies. I was just wondering is all; i`m most concerned about the date being pushed back though. But i sent an e-mail to concierge about that.

I would imagine that the high probability of fraud and abuse with hundreds and hundreds of panicked orders pouring in had a lot to do with it....

edited to add: there was no email about the delivery date change, it was really only a brief aside on a blog entry. IIRC, the one where Robin notes that so many islands were ordered that the SL landmass is about to expand by 1/3....

As far as I know the Land Store always charged immediately when an island was ordered, probably to prevent timewasting..

No it hasn`t. It used to say that you put in the order and then make sure you have the 1,250 available as there is no set date the island comes and when it comes you need to have the money in your account for them ^^

Looks like the Company was simply caught off guard by the incredible volume of orders.

And equally simply, they are doing what they can to deliver, when they can.

What can be done about it now? Not much at this point, other than roll out sims as fast as they can.

Nobody liked the new sim pricing, or how it was announced &c, but no point flogging a dead horse.

I was definitely made aware that I would be charged right away. I was also made aware that there would be a delay in delivery. Honestly, I have no problems with either.

Wouldn't it make more sense to complain about not delivering before the Dec 15th deadline AFTER the 15th of December? :P

For the record, I was one of the people who was waiting for 1pm on the 1st to order my island and was surprised the store was online at 5 mins to 1, not knowing about the extension at the time. I ordered within the next 5-10 mins and my island was delivered on the 18th, soon after they announced they were starting the rollout on a first come, first serve basis.

EDIT: Just read someone said they pushed back the deadline. Still, if you ordered on or near the 1st I would suspect you'd be getting your island sooner rather than later :)

I wouldn`t really call this complaining, it was more of an inquiry (And I think I have the right to question on account of I paid over 1K in USD and was told I would get that thing I paid for by the 15th).... but, I guess that`s the "beauty" of perspective so I won`t comment further on your statement :P

The "Land Store" with the map selection of location reservations ect has always billed at the point the order was made. Before the land store they billed when the island was delivered.
