password reset

My email address was out of date, i found out, *after* using the instructions given to me.

Now i cant change my email address due to the fact that the password has been reset.

What do i do now?

You can try clicking on log out here on the message board and resetting password that way...

all that would do is completely log me out of the system and leave me no way back in.

*sigh* Sounds like you'd need to contact Support. Which will be a pain with the password situation as screwed as it is.

Your'e right I just tried it sorry for giving bad advice... there has to be a way ... in the meantime we noticed alt accounts did not seem to be affected ( at least they werent a couple of hours ago) ..perhaps you can use an alt to get back to sl and get more help? If you do look me up I will help if I can.

the support thing has never worked.. they dont answer email, they dont answer the phone, i cant get inworld, and if i could, there's no support in there either.

Yep. I dunno what you can do in that situation. I'd try the support, you are probably looking at weeks if not a few months before you'll get back in-world on that account. Not unless a Linden happens to read this thread *eyeroll*

Since you are logged in? Change your email in you email setting off the accounts page and click the reset button again?

Doh, rofl. There you go... If you are logged into the website, why can't you just change it? xD

As long as they dont ask for the password over again to access that area then it will work .

The new password has been sent to a non existant email address, and there is no way to get it.

When I couldnt log into sl I wasnt sent a new password in my email address I was sent a link to the area where I was told to reset my password myself. I had to answer securty questions , so perhaps if you can just get to the reset area you will be able to do the same thing...

sorry do you actually have a solution? if not please go away. you are not helping ok. you are hindering.

Here's my solution; You're f*cked. You're never going to get your password reset, and odds are your best bet is to make a completely new account, or, more preferably, go away. Second Life has enough rude people in it as it is, we don't need yet another one stacked ontop of the pile.

thank you for you contribution, i see that i was correct, and you have nothing at all to offer. thank you also for showing the admins that all you can do is flame, and clutter a thread asking for help.

Several of my friends had that problem not sure what it was or why. One had gmail account though I am certain of it. If you can't call support or get in its because of time day and everyone else is calling too most likely.

I went to the domain registrar and asked them to redirect the old email account to my new address.

solved.
