Wonder id any of you lovely people can advise me on this.
Please note as you read this, i have not mentioned nobody's names or business names here as its just simply a question i am asking hoping another resident will have the answer.
if you buy a product on sl and its faulty and when asking for a refund you just get muted, what actions should be taken?
Basically i brought some game machines, brand new to sl they where, the maths tables where evidently worked out incorrectly as 20 out of 21 machines made a huge loss within about 2 hours. I told them about the problem and said i would like a refund. Instead they tried to give me updates but because i had already lost so much and lost trust in them rejected the updates and asked for a refund, now they have muted me.
Now in RL for any faulty product you buy, there is several actions you could take to rectify this and be reimbursed. But on SL what do we do?
ANy help would be very much appreciated to help me solve this.
Thanks

Shaz x Take the updates. SL is completely "buyer beware." They don't have to give you a refund. There is really nothing you can do about it. Well, you can be sure to never buy from them again and to tell others not to use their systems. As for the odds being wrong, it is completely possible that they are, but it is also possible that you just had some bad luck. As for muting you, they could be thinking that you are trying to scam them out of the money while keeping the machines for use. What I would do is to place the machine out on a little private area of land and just play it yourself for a while to see what the payouts are. As long as you are playing it yourself, you can't lose money on it! If there is something wrong with the machine, you can bring the data to the creator so they can correct anything that is wrong. If they are offering updates, you can do the same process with them to be sure they are fair with the odds.

Hello Shaz
Scripted objects will often stop working in SL because Viewer updates prevent the script from working as it should. That's why creators offer updates to their products. There are often user groups you can join to which creators will post details of updates and interim workarounds. Users can also post queries and chat to other users about any difficulties they may be experiencing.
This may be the cause of your problem with the product. If you want to talk to the creator again, you could try messaging him/her on SL Exchange, assuming he/she is listed. You could also try leaving a Private Message in the Forums, but not everyone accepts PMs. As a last resort you may need to contact him/her by notecard, but I'm not sure if muting a person means you automatically reject items sent by that person as well.
I think you may need to eat humble pie on this one.
If all else fails you can have recourse to ... nothing I'm afraid. SL isn't like the real world - there are no remedies. Just put it down to experience.

I did test them and they proved to be wrong and also the updates with different maths tables coming out the very next day? I have already made some aware of the problems i had and the poor customer services i got from them but looks like i will have to expand my concerns as i wouldn't like to see someone else lose to that extent. I don't want the updates, after losing an excessive amount you lose faith in that company. Despite what some people think of some amusement centers, i believe for mine a good % paid back to the player is the key to success .. without it they won't come back.. but also with this, you need good balanced games and when you get faulty equipment like this it can really upset your financial structure and throw everything of track I will finish the job i am currently doing then handle this within SL T.O.S but to seek satisfaction. Thanks for your help Shaz x

Yep yep and yep I am a scripter to so know that, although maybe not as good as some. These machines as i said was brand new to sl so no viewer updates been out since these released.. so scripts not out of date I know about notecards and private messages.. they was talking ok but muted me when i asked for a refund Groups, i know i have a fair size one myself. comunication isn't a problem at all, it was a faulty product, i asked for a refund, they muted me. Wining is not the way. The updates works fine. As calling yourself scripter, we can make mistakes, so do you, an update is the way to fix things. Stop wining, and no, i am not the scripter, i'm an end user.

Buying faulty products is a fact of SL.
Scripting in SL can sometimes be quite the challenge, as LSL is not the language we might wish it to be and updates sometimes bork things (warppos = example).
Those of us who care about our reputations will do our best to work with you. However, at my store (I do not sell gambling tools...never have...never will), I clearly state in all my product information cards that I will first offer bug-fixes if bugs are found...and if fixing is found to be impossible, only then will I offer a refund.
Getting muted is rather harsh...but I do understand that we scripters are CONSTANTLY bombarded by IMs...

another shoddy business person.
05-13-2007 15:32
The customer states: "The item I have purchased from you does not function as I assumed it would. I require either a working version, or a refund." The business person replies: " Certainly, valued customer who pays my bills, I will be happy to remedy this situation in whatever way necessary to make you happy." Doesnt matter what you think of this customer. You fix it before they tell all their friends how much you SUCK. You dont pull an attitude and you NEVER mute a customer. You resolve the problem and let them go on their merry way, speaking highly of your wonderful customer service. You need to play the business game right, or you deserve to crash and burn.

Well Hello as one of the scripters, i think a reply is needed. Sharon did bye the games and she knew this: These slots are based on a real slot engine and garantees payout percentages from 88% to 95% (depends on the slot and calculated over 1.000.000 spins) Now several casino owners used these games. Only one that was complaining about LOOSING bigtime Mss. Sharon Ewry. Me and my parnter spend 48 hours ( almost constantly ) talking to her. She found some very critical bugs who after tests were wrong. No bugs found! She deleted the games after miscalculating, she thougt a JP was 7.2 miljon instead of 720K Nothing wrong with it, we ALL do some misscalculation. Sharon Ewry had some big loss yes. That might be true. In a hand full off spins she lost where other have won. As she has said: either give me an update or refund me ! We offered her 3 times an update She declined them i did NOT mute her! Last hour i tried to have a conversation with her again and offered again an update. DECLINED Who am i to give a refund then?

ok i wasn't going to mention no names and still wont as i like to try to keep within the TOS first 3 of my customers complained of wrong pay out. I called them the check but they didnt find nothing wrong. so within a few lines they blamed it on lag ( the sim was empty its brand new class 5 with nobody on it ) then they said my maths was not a strong point, ( remember there was 2 others that had wrong payouts also ) now they made an update that only pays 70 to 80% out.. i don't want them in my casino i believe to be fair to a player the casino must pay 90 to 95% out, anything less is dam right unfair and just greedy, all i want is a game thats fair to the player but that i won't make a huge loss on also. and taking the updates i am also reluctant to do anyway, after losing a few hundred k within 2 hours, who wouldn't be reluctant ? And no Tec as i told you in im, it wasn't you that muted me it was your business partner. And yes there was another casino that made a loss on them but fortunately for him it was while testing I don't want the update as i have lost heart in them and don't feel that they no longer pay out a fair amount to the player. and the 7.2 million,, 3000 x 2400, that was correct maths.. and what the second party thought it ment to anyway, i have said my part, got the advise i need and i will leave it at that.

I noticed this because up on my high horse I can see pretty well from up here. My post was generic business sense. I had no idea what the product was or who manufactured it. If you disagree with anything I said, explain it.

The advertising of gambling in SL has been banned. Until LL decides on a ban on gambling in SL anyone running casinos etc is actually not doing anything wrong.

I do not made the games, let this be straight, but i do believe in the product by testing them my self for days. I have been on your laggy island, it was like quicksand, can not walk there, no script can survive there, and yes, gamescripts are heavy... Good luck, i have your conversation on my HD
