I reported some abuse to LL, they replied and said they solved it, which is untrue, and I know that because it's a parcel issue... Anyway, who do I write to how do I take this further now? I just can't believe that LL would claim that they resolved an issue, and did not ! It's quite urgent, it's been three days already.

Good question... To be honest, the best way to get a reply from SL is to call the 800 number. The tickets are kinda useless. They get so many I think they jsut run through them and close them out as fast as they can.

Tx If it's urgent, I'd try live help. I've used it once before, and got help within minutes. Course, many have said it often takes longer, but it's worth a shot.

Tx Call them here is a good idea and also fill out another abuse report if the problem still exists and email support again with all the details and if needs be contact a Linden in-world via Help Request, and be prepared to wait if you call them as they are not very quick there either If you have skype or access to cheap calls to San Fransisco then i would say ring the normal office number as it seems a better route to them. From: http://secondlife.com/community/support.php"Toll-Free Support Line If none of the above resources can help, give us a call! We have toll-free support lines staffed during our office hours: 9am-6pm PST, Monday through Friday (we are shrinking our hours just a bit in anticipation of more extensive live phone service in the near future). 1-800-961-6851 (US and Canada) (00) 800 722 00010 (UK) (0011) 800 722 00010 (Australia) Our direct number (not toll-free) is available worldwide: +1 (703) 462-1695 PLEASE NOTE: If you call us after business hours, please leave a voice mail with your Account name, Real name, email address, phone number and short description of the reason you called. Please remember to give all of the information needed and speak clearly and slowly! We will get back to you as soon as possible."

Also keep in mind that their idea of resolved may not be your own idea. They will not involve themselves in resident to resident disputes, unless there is a clear ToS or Community Standards issue involved. If your abuse report is of a personal nature which at its core does not involve a violation of Terms of Service or Community Standards, count on that report being "resolved" by filing it into the round bin. Linden Lab will not mediate in such cases.

Good luck. Please see this thread: /327/07/174090/1.htmlI'm surprised it only took them 3 days to 'resolve' it, actually.

The story (one of many...)
03-31-2007 14:15
Thanks to everyone for the advice.
Basically, this is the story... We have a little community and everything was ok so far, we are at the top of the hill which is the highest point in the area, the view was great all around. Then, we have the usual newcomers who bought a SIM next to us, and built a giant club (one more in SL...), as it's in the middle of their SIM we were not bothered at this stage. But the next part, is not so good, they raised a skyscraper on the edge of their SIM which is next to us, so they are ruining the view, and but at the same time they are taking advantage of what we have offered to the community! We have spoken to them, and they refused to cooperate, one of them said to us: "you can always move..." You see, these guys are very selfish and not respectful of their neighbors, they have enough space, right? But they think they are clever imposing such things on others, but won't accept it the other way around. We were very reasonable and did our best to offer a very pleasurable environment for everyone.
So, we first asked them if they could move that building away from our community, as they have plenty of space, really. When they started to act silly or ignore us, we told them that we would raise some panels to show them how it feels, we also told that to the Lindens (the complete story). Each member of our group and our friendly neighbor contacted the Lindens about this issue. The next day, we had a reply saying that it's been resolved...
It's untrue, the skyscraper is still on the edge of their SIM next to us...
Of course, we know people can build high and as large as their parcel permit, but it's not respectful at all to impose such a huge building next to another SIM, block their view, and steal theirs when you have your own SIM right?
So, at this moment, we have raised a not so pleasant panel, to block their view, and hope to make them understand how it feels to impose such things on others, this is the last resort for us. Of course, we'd rather not do it, but not even the Lindens are interested, even worse, they told us it's been resolved.

Ah, the screw you factor.

LL is telling you, " all we can do is say, do ya really need a skyscraper in that location?" Once the sim owner says, " Why yes we do need a skyscraper there." issue resolved. If the sim owner had said, " WE PUT IT UP TO PISS EVERYBODY OFF" then there may be a breach of peace issue. As it stands you have some 'screw you' neighbors and there isnt much you can do about it, other than making sure you and your friends dont visit their miserable casino.

I see and hear a lot of people get mad about a view from their property lines. This is a really common problem is SL for some people. Problem is as in RL there is not much you can do about it that I know off anyway, correct me if I am wrong anyone. As long as its on their property that they pay for its hard to tell them where and how they can place things on it and the same goes for them telling you where and how you place things on yours. Not saying that it may not be an soar cause it might be, I am just saying I don't think there is much you can do about it.

However, there are ordinances in RL that prohibit anyone from ruining someone elses property. You know, government? The ToS is a shield LL hides behind all the time...........they need to step up and get involved. There are always compromises.........or chances of compromises. Instead they just wash their hands of it. Resolutions such as this are an easy call for LL.............."we are not responsible. Settle it yourself". God I love that attitude!!!!! NOT.

lol true. Some sort of Zoning in SL would help alot of this but I don't know... Maybe too late for that now. I don't know how you would start it and also what it would take to enforce it.

Good news
04-01-2007 17:12
Well, thanks for the great support, I feel the love To anticipate we set the land for sale, guess what... it's now sold, thank God! (no, they didn't buy it, it was someone on our SIM who acquired it) It was such a nice spot, really, and although we made a little profit, we didn't sale for that reason. Yes, we realized that it sold very quick, and are aware that those selfish people next to us, were really taking advantage of the view, and ruined it at the same time... Things like that might happen again and again of course, nothing new here, SL can be as good or as bad as RL at times. But that was just a bunch of nasty and lousy players, really. So glad to leave the area now A "fresh start" ... mmm, will see... At least we know we won't waste our time again with LL/abuse reports.
