Is it just me or is save as not working? If I adjust my body I can no longer save as. Making a new item of clothing, again I can only save and save as is never an option.

Save as and Make Outfit have been disabled for now.

From Linden Blog:

“Earlier this morning we closed down the grid while we were investigating a widespread permissions errors involving clothing. We currently have a required viewer update that temporarily disables the Appearance -> Save As and Make Outfit features, which will prevent permissions errors from occurring. We are working on a fix for these errors, and hope to have it available early in the week. We do not anticipate that this bug fix will require more grid downtime or a forced update.”

And Pathfinder Linden responds about when this will be reinstated: /139/a6/144425/1.html

It appears that this feature has been enabled again in the current Beta grid. (I was told it was by a gal I met at lunchtime in the Beta grid, but I didn't take time to verify it). So there's hope it will be fixed in the next release. Maybe even sooner, as Pathfinder implied it could be reactivated without a new client side or server update.

The other day i was assisting a friend with their look, New Av, and clothing, and such, but when we went to save it as an outfit, that function didn't work, neither on his system Nor on mine.

Any idea When we will be able to Mane new outfits again?

Angel.

OK, here's a workaround for the time being, but it's horribly clunky:

1) Spend a bit of time trying out the various items of clothing, attachments, etc. that you want to save as an outfit. At this point just make a note of the items names.

2) Create a folder in your inventory. For example: New Snazzy Outfit-01.

3) Copy and paste all the items (skin, hair, clothes, attachments, etc.) into that folder.

4) Drag that folder onto your avatar. Wait for everything to load.

5) Go into appearance mode / editor, tweak your appearance and then click on the 'save' or 'save all' button.

That'll do the trick until the 'make outfit' option is re-enabled.

Ah! I wondered what was going on.

I hope it gets fixed soon.

Compulsive perfectionist that I am, I can't make any new skins or clothing until this is fixed, since Renaming things has never changed the Internal name, (the one you see at the top of the window when modifying things in Appearances.) The only way I've ever been able to change that is Save As. I hate having a mismatch between the Internal and Inventory names; it's not up to my exacting standards. :D

Oh well. I guess I just have to do R&D until this is taken care of. :D

For individual items of clothing, for example a shirt, New Clothing allows renaming in the inventory folder and it sticks in the Appearance Mode. Create a New Shirt, wear it, modify it as you want to make it a real shirt, rename it in the inventory window, then Save. A major pain and for someone like me, fraught with the opportunity for error, but it can be done.

Thanks, Govindira! That works! (Something I'd just never thought to try. :D )

A little experimentation shows that you don't even have to use a New item, or be in Appearances when you Rename.

If you Rename things while you are wearing them, the name sticks in Appearances!

This is great to know, and will actually save me quite a bit of time, even when we have Save As again. :D (Sometimes I change my mind about what I want to name things after I have several of them done.)

Thanks again!

Interesting. I guess that suggests there was nothing magical about Save As itself in the first place; it's just that Save As could only be used while you're wearing the items you're saving. I wonder what it is about wearing something that somehow makes the name stick in both fields while not wearing it yields two different names. Lindens, wanna get on that?

I can see how there could be an error specific to Save As creating a copy with bad permissions.

Bug-report it?
