Does anyone know how to disable the default fly key (Home). The Home key has become useless in chat mode because it is also the default fly key.

Hello HD and welcome. showing my ignorance here .. what does home do in chat mode?
Personally, I use the 'e' and 'c' keys for flying.

The Home key is the standard key used to return to the beginning of a line of text in a text entry field in windows applications.

HD, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that gets irritated by flying every time I just want to make an edit to my chat :)

Thanks Flint .. I knew that really .. guess the pre-weekend toxins are kicking in early ;)

I get a similar prob when I've forgotten to activate the appropriate text box and start typing before looking at the screen to see I've just jumped and produced no text at all!! LOL

I solved that problem by getting a really cool jump in my AO! It's much less frustrating now for some reason.

That's what I did; I do a triple flip in mid air and it looks like I'm doing it on purpose rather than completely fouling up the chat.

I think you can edit the keys.ini file, changing "HOME" to "NONE" to disable the HOME key.

On a default SL install in windows, this would be at c:\Program File\SecondLife\app_settings\keys.ini .

You know in SL you can use "Page Up" and "Page Down" to do that..
i mean in the chat box area.. or IM text area... if you hit Page Up you'll go to the very beginning ... and Page Down will take you to the very end.. so they sorta take the place of Home and End

I changed the HOME key into PGUP in c:\Program File\SecondLife\app_settings\keys.ini
This stopped the flying alright, but unfortunately, the Home key is not supported in the chat box.

So let me ask the question differently:
How do I select all the text in the chat box quickly with the keyboard?

Yes, I figured that out in the mean time. Crl + A and Del seems the best way to clear the chatbox.
