For some of us, this is our second forum closing here at SL. The first one didn't feel quite like this since they only closed General Discussion and we still had all the other forums. There was a lot of anger, I think because we were an angry group at the time.
This time, though, it feels different.
This feels like the last week of camp. All the friendships and good times, and we all promise we'll write and stay in touch.
We had a moment in time here.
Nature's first green is gold Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.
--- Robert Frost

You and I will meet again When we're least expecting it One day in some far off place I will recognize your face I won't say good-bye my friend For you and I will meet again.

Let's say goodbye with a smile, dear, Just for a while, dear, we must part. Don't let the parting upset you, I'll not forget you, sweetheart. We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day. Keep smiling through, just like you always do, 'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away. So will you please say hello to the folks that I know, Tell them I won't be long. They'll be happy to know that as you saw me go, I was singing this song. After the rain comes the rainbow, You'll see the rain go, never fear, We two can wait for tomorrow, Goodbye to sorrow, my dear.

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.

my dual purpose submission:
"My Memory Library © Sarah Blackstone Imagine if I was given one moment, just a single slice of my past. I could hold it close forever, and that moment would always last.
I'd put the moment in a safe, within my hearts abode. I could open it when I wanted, and only I would know the code.
I could choose a time of laughing, a time of happiness and fun. I could choose a time that tried me, through everything I've done.
I sat and thought about what moment, would always make me smile. One that would always push me, to walk that extra mile.
If I'm feeling sad and low, if I'm struggling with what to do. I can go and open my little safe, and watch my moment through.
There are moments I can think of, that would lift my spirits everytime. The moments when you picked me up, when the road was hard to climb.
For me to only pick one moment, to cherish, save and keep, Is proving really difficult, as I've gathered up a heap!
I've dug deep inside my heart, found the safe and looked inside, there was room for lots of moments, in fact hundreds if I tried.
I'm building my own little library, embedded in my heart, for all the moments spent with you, before you had to part.
I can open it up whenever I like, pick a moment and watch it through, My little library acts as a promise, I'll never ever forget you"

They paved paradise And put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique And a swinging hot SPOT Don’t it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
They took all the trees And put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people A dollar and a half just to see 'em Don't it always seem to go, That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
Hey farmer, farmer Put away that DDT now Give me spots on my apples But LEAVE me the birds and the bees Please! Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til its gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
Late last night I heard the screen door slam And a big yellow taxi Come and took away my old man Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
I said Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you’ve got ‘Til it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They paved paradise And put up a parking lot

They say that heaven is like TV A perfect little world that doesn't really need you And everything there is made of light And the days keep going by Here they come Here they come Here they come.
Well it was one of those days larger than life When your friends came to dinner and they stayed the night And then they cleaned out the refrigerator - They ate everything in sight And then they stayed up in the living room And they cried all night
Strange angels - singing just for me Old stories - they're haunting me This is nothing like I thought it would be.
Well I was out in my four door with the top down. And I looked up and there they were: Millions of tiny teardrops just sort of hanging there And I didn't know whether to laugh or cry And I said to myself: What next big sky?
Strange angels - singing just for me Their spare change falls on top of me Rain falling Falling all over me All over me Strange angels - singing just for me Old Stories - they're haunting me Big changes are coming Here they come Here they come.

The way you wear your hat, The way you sip your tea, The mem'ry of all that -- No, no! They can't take that away from me! The way your smile just beams, The way you sing off key, The way you haunt my dreams -- No, no! They can't take that away from me! We can never, never meet again On the bumpy road to love, Still I'll always, always keep The mem'ry of -- The way you hold your knife, The way we danced 'til three. The way you changed my life -- No, no! They can't take that away from me! No! They can't take that away from me! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO-foBqkX6c.

Of all the money that ere I had, I spent it in good company. And of all the harm that ere I've done, alas was done to none but me. And all I've done for want of wit, to memory now I cannot recall. So fill me to the parting glass. Goodnight and joy be with you all. Of all the comrades that ere I had, they're sorry for my going away, And of all the sweethearts that ere I had , they wish me one more day to stay, But since it falls unto my lot that I should rise while you should not, I will gently rise and I'll softly call, "Goodnight and joy be with you all!" ... The Parting Glass Should we have a rockin' wake at the Hangout?

From: Scylla Rhiadra Ohh! Dudley Moore and Peter Cook! Sooooo cool. I've never heard of this show . . . The South Bank Show was an arts thread, and the clip is from an edition that looked the history of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Their show was called "Not Only but Also", and the song was their sign-off tune.

I barely knew you, You barely knew me, but piece by piece, and tidbit by tidbit, plenty of pieces of humanity. No true right or wrong, as hard as we would try, but the longer the door remained open, the closer we would get to "why." But the door closes, with finality, and only promises of banality, and you and I, as different as we are, are of the type, that will not settle, for banality or hype. We won't meet inworld, we never would, we met here, the only place we could. Because we are so different, so opposed, it was a one shot deal, multiplied tenfold, a rare opportunity, for those with curiosity, and the passion to grab hold. We could go further, but this they will not know, and neither will we, as it's just another barrier, in understanding humanity, and oddly enough, the message they send.... communication and connecting, understanding and embracing, enhancing and exploring, to the fullest, it was right here in their hands, and has come to an end. We won't meet again in their "there", the puzzle pieces have already scattered, the opportunities have folded, and the passion has been battered. We won't meet again in other places, in the way we did here, sections will unravel and scatter, and the weave will tatter, and all that was intricately, and carefully, and not so carefully, woven with passionate and often times awkward quilting, into a masterpiece, will sit on a shelf, and fade away, never completed, never tended to, never repaired, fading and wilting. We won't meet inworld, we never would, we met here, the only place we could. Take care

Now, this is the story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air
In west Philadelphia born and raised On the playground was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool And all shootin some b-ball outside of school When a couple of guys Who were up to no good Startin making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'
I begged and pleaded with her day after day But she packed my suite case and sent me on my way She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket. I put my walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'.
First class, yo this is bad Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass. Is this what the people of Bel-Air living like? Hmmmmm this might be alright.
But wait, I hear the prissy, booze, whine, all that Is this the type of place that they should send this cool cat? I don't think so I'll see when I get there I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air
Well uh, the plane landed and when I came out There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out I ain't trying to get arrested yet. I just got here! I sprang with the quickness, like lightening disappeared
I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror If anything I can say is that this cab was rare But I thought 'Man forget it' - 'Yo home to Bel Air'
I pulled up to the house about seven or eight And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later' I looked to my kingdom I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

They came for the Casinos, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a gambler. They came for the Banks, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't an investor The came for XStreet and the adult businesses, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a business owner They came for the forums. We all spoke up, but it did absolutely no good.
*whips off her pants and waves bye bye.

When they first closed parts of this forum I went away for a year. Then I came back and found a different but wonderful group of people.
I am going to try and learn from that and not go completely away from forums. I don't know where I will land, but I hope to find some of you there.

==============
It is a little like dying, First a little fear, Perhaps a tear, Last breath sighing, From my lips, Death in sips, Life ebbing, slowing, Darkness soon, No more Moon, Eyes are closing.

Dedicated to any applicable Linden
Day after day, Alone on a hill, The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still But nobody wants to know him, They can see that he's just a fool, And he never gives an answer,
But the fool on the hill, Sees the sun going down, And the eyes in his head, See the world spinning 'round.
Well on the way, Head in a cloud, The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud But nobody ever hear's him, or the sound he appears to make, and he never seems to notice,
But the fool on the hill, Sees the sun going down, And the eyes in his head, See the world spinning 'round.
And nobody seems to like him, they can tell what he wants to do, and he never shows his feelings,
But the fool on the hill, Sees the sun going down, And the eyes in his head, See the world spinning 'round.
Ooh, ooh, Round and round and round.
And he never listens to them, He knows that they're the fools They don't like him,
The fool on the hill Sees the sun going down, And the eyes in his head, See the world spinning 'round.

I have had this song running through my head for several days now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3uFrCszW7w We saw the heavens break and all the world go down to sleep and rocks on mossy banks drip acid rain from craggy steeps Saw fiery angels kiss the dawn Wish you goodbye till further on Will you still be there further on? And troubled dynasties, like legions lost, have blown away Hounds hard upon their heels call to their quarry --- wait and play Before the last faint light has gone Wish you goodbye till further on Will you still be there further on? The angry waves grow high --- cut icy teeth on northern shores Brave fires that flicker, cough --- give way to winds through broken doors And with the last line almost drawn --- wish you goodbye till further on Will you still be there further on?
