My av sometimes but not always automatically repeats himself in either chat or IM. It's really annoying. Any idea how to fix it? Thanks.

I've seen that once only - it seems to be very transient.

Chat lag does this with my help. ;p Chat lag makes me believe that what i just typed didn't go through, so i try to type it again only to have it come out twice.

But yea, i do recall this happening before, but not recently. Sometimes everything spoke into chat, would come out twice.

It may have something to do with the Time Dilation. When the client and the SL server become out of sync, the time dialation % drops. Your client having already sent it's packet to the server may not 'time out' at the server end, but your client does not receive a 'response' so re-sends the packet again....

i've heard this typically only happens with people on wireless internet connections.
and is a a combination of SL and router communicating funny or something.. like hiccuping between each other.

i dunno. i'm not really tech-savvy. i just remember reading about that maybe being the case before.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! The problem is not solved but I will keep trying.

There is another related problem I have that might suggest something. When I send a friend invitation, that gets sent twice too.

I canceled the account of a previous av controlled from the same PC - he exhibited the same behavior.

My av repeats when chatting nearly all the time using a wireless connection, and on IM maybe 50% of the time. It's not only frustrating to me but to anyone I am speaking with, even everyone nearby. And is even worse when I am talking with a person who is not a native English speaker.

Motivated by Hana's suggestion, I'll try a wired connection and report back what happens.

Yes, the double typing problem goes away if I use a wired connection. Maybe the problem with wireless is the WEP encryption on my LAN. Thanks again to everyone who added a comment!
