Question about RAW Terrain Files (ch. 4 / parcels)

I've been working / playing with the RAW terrain files and one thing that I have consistently had a problem with is the channel that is for land parcels. According to the knowledge base and the estate guide, channel 4 is for parcel info. It says a value of 0 is for currently owned parcels and a value of 255 is for linden-owned land, and anything in between is used to differentiate the different parcels. I've tried creating parcel maps on this channel and uploading the file and it is ignored. So I ended up doing the parcel dividing in-world, although it is time-consuming and clunky. Now I've downloaded the RAW file and checked, and channel four does not show the separate parcels as it should, according to the guide and knowledge base. It just shows one big parcel all at 255 (linden owned).

Is anyone else having this problem too? Is there a workaround or something? Or is channel 4 just plain broken?

My concern is that if I'm doing something with my terrain and upload a new RAW file, I don't want to have the existing parcel info 'overwritten' one day and everything is suddenly one big parcel in my name (or worse, Gov. Linden's name).

I read somewhere that the channel 4 is being ignored, so it on longer work both read and write. And I think I have posted a reply last time you asked the same question.. but someone else said that this was not the case.
Personally , I tried many times on the RAW but never get it to work. Now I found it much easier just do it in-world.. once I get used to it.

Thanks Jack! My mind came up blank, I know I've had questions on RAW files before but I can't remember asking about ch. 4 specifically.

Maybe the function was depreciated and LL forgot to tell anyone...

I think that currently channel 4 only works on mainland sims.

Channel 4 has not worked since 1.10.0.

The only way to parcel now is by hand. The only parcelling tools I have seen are private ones created by Rock Vacirca, but he does do parcelling work for others when asked, if he has spare time, although he does not do it as a business as he owns several Estates and developed the tools for his own use.
