If you are bidding in an auction and you win the piece of land, do you need to raise your tier before you place the winning bid or can you win the auction and then raise you tier in order to claim the land?

Thanks

I read last week (I think it was the auction FAQ) that yes, your tier is automatically bumped up.

Ah yes, have just found that Auction FAQ and you get 7 days to take possession during which time you can raise your tier.

Thanks allot.

When you win, you're given the option of paying now, if you choose it the land will be set for sale to you only at 0L. You can then make any arrangements regarding tier before taking ownership of the land properly.

If you don't take it within 7 days, you will lose it - this is to stop somebody buying up all the land in the auctions without paying tier on it, taking ownership of one sim at a time like a well-known "millionaire" land baron was caught doing.

The only time I didn't do a pay now, payment was taken automatically after a while and the land assigned directly to me, increasing my tier automatically. However, the grid was rather poorly at the time which might have contributed to this.
