I was thinking of renting it out for ad space or a club, but I dont know the average rent. Mainland prices are very high right now, so unless you're willng to make a sizable investment in land and time, you're not going to make a profit. Island parcels rent for less than the mainland, but of course, buying an island is a BIG investment and not for the faint of heart. The only competitive rental prices on the mainland will come from residents who own enough land to lower their m/$ ratio, but that requires a very high tier rate (US$75/mo and above) and lots of land to manage. If you want land to enjoy SL, go for it. And if your parcel is large enough, rent out a piece to help offset your tier. But don't go into this as a for-profit venture unless you're willing to do your homework, work hard, and can deal with high risk.

I don't understand how anyone makes a worthwhile profit renting land. The going rate seems to be about 200/250 L$ per 512m (about US$ 1/week). So even with 128 parcels, after land use charges of US$198 that leaves about US$300/week. Not a trivial amount but no basis for a business, and thats assuming 100% occupancy. Yet i get the impression people are doing this full time to make a living. Am I missing somthing?
