Why is it I freeze and then crash whenever I try to watch a TV in SL?

I have the latest Quicktime installed, I lower my draw distance and graphics, close everything but SL and I still get nothing.

Whats worse is they always seem to work in the stores when I try them, but after buying and getting home, setting them up and everything, I can sometimes watch youtubes, but not por...other things. Everyone I am with can watch them, except me.

Any hints, ideas or suggestions?

Unfortunately, problems with video media are all too common. It is unusual, however, that it actually causes a viewer *crash*, so I'm a little puzzled by that, and I think it would be helpful to get the detailed viewer and OS specs from Help / "About Second Life..." so we aren't grappling with ghosts here.

In the meantime, I'll just pretend that we're dealing with some OS from Redmond, in which case the Quicktime app that shows these things is a bolt-on from Cupertino which sometimes loses its wits. A couple things to try: First, empty the cache from the Quicktime control panel's Advanced tab. (If you somehow don't have a control panel called "Quicktime" you should be able to get to the same thing from somewhere inside the Quicktime player.)

So, when that doesn't work ( :o ), you might try removing Quicktime altogether and reinstalling it from scratch.

(If you're not on Windows, ignore all that.)
