Hello,
i bought a nice yacht but now i'm facing a problem
I've put my boat in a nice dock but every time when i log in my boat dissapears (get the message that all objects are returned to my inventory)
the other question is: how can i prevent that other people get on my boat? is there some kind of protection available?

Most rental land requires you join a renters group that makes you a member and able to rez items on your parcel. You would probably use this same mechanism to limit access to the parcel. If the group is not active when you rez the item, there is normally a 2 minute or so period (time can be custom set by the landowner) before it is returned to your inventory. This confused me the first time I tried to set up my private objects on a rented parcel, as I didn't know to join my renter group and then activate the group before setting up my property. You don't have to have the group membership active ALL the time, only when adding items to your parcel.
It may also be possible that the yacht exceeds your prim allowance for the parcel? Exactly how many prims is it, and exactly what is your status (rented/owned etc) for using this dock?
If you don't own/rent the dock area yourself, then it is unlikely you can use it as a "home base" for your yacht.

Water is like land... its owned by someone. And if that water is not owned by you then having the boat returned should be expected. A SIM where I used to reside allowed you to keep a boat at their docks for a weekly rental fee.
