Hi guys,
Im not one to usualy complain on forums , or anywhere for that matter, but having to chose between pulling my hair out, quitting SL or ranting, i thought id give the forum a go before i forever TP into the real life (although i heard the graphics rock, the lag in real life is too much, but apparently many puzzles to solve, and unkillable monsters)
So , my rant, anyway, for all you regulr Bare Rose customers , im sur eyou can imagine my horror when i open my inventory and go to my bare rose section(i love that place i bought a SHED load from there) and find all my bare rose stuff missing(other stuff too) but this hurts the most, not beacsue of the price(bare rose has excellent prices) but becasue itw as a little collection i had going on....loads of my inventory is missing...this neverhappened to me before... do i wait for it to come back? look for a new passtime?
my plans to actually invest in SL to make a business are going down the drain as everyday i get less and less motivated to lsoe my investment due to Lindens apparently not realising the importance of a good product....i cant invest in somethign so unstable as SL...shame

Hi Tarek,
Did you try to clear your cache, and restart the SL client? It should reload your inventory again from Linden Lab servers. I lost some items too lately, but got them all back after the clear cache procedure.
Good luck, Meni

We really do need a backup facility - and before people start, there are ways of doing that which prevent it being used to bypass permissions, although it may need a re-architecture of the way inventory, assets etc. are stored on the back end.
The constant threat of irretrievable inventory loss (ignoring the cost and hassle of getting replacements, what if these are my own creations, are from creators no longer in SL etc.) is the biggest obstacle preventing many from investing time and money in SL, and I suspect preventing some of the bigger players taking it seriously.

If the cache-clearing didn't work for you, I'm pretty sure it's gone for good. That's why I don't want to spend a lot of money in SL...and if I had money to invest in it, I wouldn't. It NEEDS inventory backup. And not just for full perm items! A lot of my inventory isn't!

Did you reset your inventory filters? I don't know if those settings persist between logins & cache clears but it's worth a try.
Sometimes inventory takes a while to load. It's scared me a few times in the past but turned out to just be slow. Open your inventory and do Recent Items then watch the top of the inventory window until you can see that it's finished loading. Hopefully, it's just being slow..
If they're still not there, file a support ticket and cross your fingers - hope they can find your stuff.

you might also try searching for one of the bare rose items.
i have found that from time to time whole directories just MOVE.
more than once have i found that a directory has moved INSIDE another one.

From: Egon Rothschild you might also try searching for one of the bare rose items.

more than once have i found that a directory has moved INSIDE another one. This has happened to me a couple of times. Also, things will 'magically' reappear after a while... like 3 months after a while. What I'd like to see is this: Our inventories are merely 'lists' that draw from the asset server for the items to rezz. So, let us proceed with this concept as inventory 'lists' and 'links'. Say you delete an item and empty the trash. Why not allow a 24 hour period for item retrieval via a saved 'list'? Also, a back up 'list' that if the user's main 'list' gets corrupted, the user can chose to have the back up list overwrite the main. Exception would be those items that were 'given' away permanently (items that are transfer only). And limit the user to being able to do this only once a day.

Tarek, I had the same situation awhile back, empty folders.. alot, and i mean alot of stuff missing.. I did get it back.. Sounds stupid, but uninstall the client, and re-install it, I logged back in, and everything was back.. Not sure how or why, but it worked for me. I hope this does the trick! Fingers Crossed, Jeza

There is a JIRA feature request for inventory backup, VWR-358, if you want to vote for it. Instructions on voting in JIRA are below the line of asterisks. For missing inventory, Linden support recommended to me that I not only reinstall SL, but manually delete caches on my system first as follows: 1) Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Local Settings and delete the contents of your Temp folder. 2) Open c:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\Application Data\Second Life and DELETE THE ENTIRE FOLDER. 3) Uninstall Second Life using the Add/Remove Programs tool in your Windows Control Panel. 4) Visit http://secondlife.com/download and download and install the latest release. *********************************************** The JIRA login page is at https://jira.secondlife.com/cas/login?service=https%3A%2F%2Fjira.secondlife.com%2F secure%2FDashboard.jspa-- If you know the bug number (like VWR-35 , then enter it in the "Quick Search" field in the upper right of the JIRA screen. -- When the bug description comes up, look on the panel on the left side of the screen for the section called "Operations" (probably the last section) -- The last item in that section should be "Voting". A single click there will register your vote. The page will change to indicate that you already have voted for this bug. The next time you log into Jira, you will see a set of links on the entry page like this: "My Unresolved Reported Issues | Votes " Click on the "Votes" part of the link and you will see the status of all issues you have voted for.
