Was just listening to BBC Radio One while driving down the M6 and noticed they were heavily plugging Radio One's Big Weekend. Last year's event was of course staged in Second Life besides Scotland and I'm not sure I'd have become a SL resident if it hadn't been for the surrounding publicity that piqued my interest.
I think you can see where this is leading. The BBC's four islands still exist between the north and south continents, so they must be paying tier. As far as I know, there have been no events on them in the year since, and as the Big Weekend 2007 doesn't appear to be reaching Second Life this year, I wonder what on earth they're still there for? Does the BBC licence payer have anything to look forward to with regards these islands, or are we just footing the bill until somebody at Wood Lane notices that they're still actually paying for them while perusing the accounts?
For those who weren't here, I personally think you missed something special. It was fantastic. Proof that corporate involvement can actually be inclusive, cool and fun..when done properly.
