Naive question, I'm sure. I have read threads where it is complained about, but I have found no description. At first I thought there was a point of etiquette I might be missing, but it sounds like there's more to it than that...

Some land owners use scripted objects to pay Avatars to be on their land in order to raise their traffic score.
The avatar that does this is camping.

There you find a comfy camping chair ( or camping dance pad, or camping floor sweeping animation pod) and once you sit on this thing it PAYS YOU. Every ten minutes or so the thing tosses you a linden dollar. Sitting around with you are twenty other people, collecting their six bucks an hour. Now if you think about it, this could be a neat way to make some spare change. Imagine, sitting around with twenty of your friends, talking about movies, or music, telling funny stories over a few cocktails. Problem is... THIS DOESNT HAPPEN! Instead you have twenty dead zombies sitting around these camping chairs, its owners AFK. Now while their alts sit on the dollar generators, their puppetmasters are playing another avie. Hanging out at a club or something, chatting with friends about movies, or music, telling funny stories over a.... Totally weak! Now for the rest of us this means that the top ten lists are a sham. The reason they are on the top ten list isnt because they are great places to hang out, its because they give away free money to sit there. Laggy, overblown, palaces of misery!! There are many reasons that people treat these camping emporiums with distain. For example, because an establishment has 30 camping chairs installed, with 30 zombies seated in them, some neighbors cant even get to their own property because the friggin sim is FULL! Camping, BOOOOO!

It pretty much is a waste of time, unless you are in a basemant in China, chained to a desk, with 15 other people.
