Just to let anyone who may suggest its MY computer with problems here, its not. I've been able to run Second Life perfectly without little problems except the occasional crash until last night when I teleported to the Bodega sim and crashed. Now everytime I manage to login, Second Life crashed back to the desktop. Its extremely frustrating. I don't even get enough time to teleport OUT of Bodega.
What do I do? =\

The sim might be down. Ok, try this.
On the login screen click preferences > Click on the Network tab > push the Clear Cache button
close and reopen the SL viewer
Then hit preferences again > go to the General tab > where it says Start Location make sure to check the box called Show Start Location on Login Screen
You should now have a box on the login screen that says Start Location. Try the name of a sim other than Bodega in this box.

From: Uvas Umarov Are you sure its not your computer? Aren't there enough useless responses like this on the forums? I have seen several sims these last couple of days that are crashing every few minutes, it is fairly likely that it is not the OP's computer, unfortunately.

If clearing the cache and starting in a different sim as described above doesn't work, you could try uninstalling and re-installing SL.

Hmm wierd. I did what Gaybot said and chose to log-in to My Home but I logged in and was crashed. Will keep trying though. I'm sure it'll work soon, even if I have to reinstall FirstLook lol Edit: Nope! Didn't work. Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling. *Ears Droop* Here's what my screen will usually look like...o_O http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/5194/checkitps1.png

Maybe not install the "First Look" version and instead install the regular version. Then after if you are able to get in game and stay awhile, install the First look again?

You say you crash to desktop immediately. What's the picture of?

can you click the stand up button and move at all? I was curious, so I TPed to the spot, and it's just an open field. In any case, the thing that confuses me is that he says that he is crashing to desktop immediately upon logging in. If that is the case, then he wouldn't have a picture of a place in SL to post. The fact that he is posting a picture of something in SL leads me to believe that he is not, in fact, crashing to desktop, and that he means he is stuck somewhere or something. So I was asking for clarification.

Change Location.

I was driving at warp speed in my sports car "gene" on the newly Linden sims. My car "crashed" (probably lagged) and we were dragged WAYYYYY under the grid. It looks like something similar happened to you. Start Second Life Click Preferences BEFORE you login Set Start Location to "My Home" Click OK. Login. I hope that helps.

I had a similar problem;when, I was driving my sports car "gene" at warp speed across the newly created main land sims. We hit lag and got pulled WAYYYY under the grid. It looks just like that snapshot. My car was auto-returned after a few seconds and I couldn't do anything after that.
I shut down second life (not first look), changed my start location to "My Home", and restarted with no problems.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.
