Hi, I must have mistakenly taked a stupid pill this morning because I cannot find where I can change the default HD folder for snapshots, or change the default snapshot name. I've been looking for over an hour... I don't mean initially btw, I mean subsequently.

Someone please take pity and help me out. Thanks for reading.

The way that the snapshot to disk feature picks where to put files and what to call them has always seemed less than optimal to me.

In windows, the first time during an SL session you use the snapshot to disk feature, it presents a dialog, showing "Save As" at the top, and a stock windows dialog box, that allows you to navigate the folder hierarchy and enter a filename. You choose at this time what the destination folder for the snapshot files saved during the currect SL session will be.

On subsequent uses of the snapshot to disk feature during the current SL session, there will be no dialog asking where to save the file or what name to give the file. The destination folder will be the same one you determined on the first use of the snapshot to disk feature, and the name will be reused, with the addition of a number at the end of the filename to distinguish one snapshot from the other.

If you don't supply a filename during the initial use of the snapshot to disk feature, it will use the default name "Snapshot", adding a number to distinguish the new file from other previously saved files that used the default name "Snapshot".

There is no way designed into the interface to change the destination folder for the snapshots other than the opportunity you have at the first use of the feature.

There might be a setting for this in the Debug Settings, but I haven't found it since starting this post.

File a JIRA perhaps, if this seems to be a bug (or if you'd like an option to see the file dialog open each time.) If there are some votes for it I'm sure someone will submit a patch quickly.

Thanks for your interest Folks, I've looked through a few .xml files and I can't find any entry that 's relevant. It's not obvious anyway. It just seems like an obvious option to me. When I'm scanning, I set up an incremental file name and a folder. Well, enough said... Anyone remember Alphaworld? I was there.

P.S Something I have now discovered is that the settings reset after every session.
