Hi, I know I have seen somewhere, the setting you can change in your SL preferences for better performance, but now I can't seem to find it. Anyone? Thanks. :)

here is a really good blog post from Torley.com when she got her new computer. It lists the old settings from before the update, but they are basically the same. It also helps explain some of the settings and what the heck they are, such as the Avatar Vertex program:
From: Torley Linden on Torley.com
The reason why AVATAR VERTEX PROGRAM is checked off is because it gives avs more of a darker, "grittier" feel. Good for photographs with character. I’ve noticed that checking it on does provide a subtle boost, but it makes avs look kinda flat sometimes too. So I alternate on context.

The site also has Pictures!! Which are an awesome help even if you know what you're doing!

Hope this helps! :)
