Anybody else seeing ghosts?

For several weeks now I've been seeing ghosts on the border of my property, right at the sim crossing line. There's an avatar stuck in mid-air, clothes flapping in the wind, head moving side to side, but nobody is home.

I've even sent IM's to a couple to ask why they seemed to be stuck on my property, only to get a reply like "What the heck are you talking about?".

I didn't realize until recently that this is an old SL problem called "ghosting", related to the fact that SL is not telling the local client to "forget about" an avatar or object, so now I'm wondering how many other people are seeing this lately.

Is it just me?

Ghosts happen all the time in sailing, they appear when t the boat crosses a sim border. Not all the time but when there is lots of lag. I have no idea the technical reason, but they usually go away after a bit. We were wondering yesterday if anyone had ever seen a ghost of themselves.

I used to see avatar ghosts all the time, have not seen any lately. The most interesting ghost was of a sailor on a sailboat. Sailboat seemed stuck, not on a sim boarder but out in the middle. The boat was turning upside down and rotating slowly. I took a photo and IM'd the sailer, who said she had sailed by my place but was away in another sailing on as we chatted. I could see the ghost but my friend with me could not, and thot i was nuts until I sent her a snapshot of her and I and the sailboat between us.

We were once in a sim when something happened and and unusual large number (12 or so) of avatars flying around all ghosted and froze in the sky, but my friend and I who were on the ground were uneffected.

Yup, I have seen a couple of them too
People just hanging in the air near the edge of my property.
When I IMed one he was in fact offline, the other was 'really' in a far away sim and very surprised as he had not actually been anywhere near the sim I was in at all that day.

It is not really like the old 'crashed' ghosts we used to get a year or so ago. The avatars I saw were both in a sitting pose, and in the air, hanging above me a little way up. It is rather spooky, actually.

Yes, we got a couple of avs ghosted just today. It's like having a politician on your land... you can see them, but... no substance.

Encountered the ghosting phenominon way back when and it still happens on occasion. Kinda freaky in its own special way. And they often seem to be hovering about, tho seated ghosts also occur. You can dress em up with accessories if you want and then send the ghosts owner a pic. Good for laughs.
