Why can't I rate somebody?

I would like to rate a person, but the "Rate" button will not light in their profile for me. Is this a temporary glitch, or are there strictures controlling my ability? (The "Rate" button does light up for others...)

The rate button in a person's profile should appear only if you produce the profile by right clicking the avatar, or right clicking an object they own.

If you just look up a name in the search tab, people profile, the rate button should never be enabled.

This probably stems from the days when rates were cheap and you could rate people negatively. Having the rate button enabled for everyone would have enable grid wide rate griefing in addition to the localized rate griefing that some folks found so endlessly entertaining at the welcome area.

Thank you Suezanne -

That's my problem. I did not want to be there when I rated the person, so I tried to do so after I left (read... buncha social aversions to personal interaction...) I guess I'll have to go back and confront my own hangups...

...and you know, that's probably a good thing too as it was the fact that this person made me see SL in a different way which made me desire to rate him, so maybe it's time I tried reacting in a different way too...

...mission accomplished... case closed...

SL is oneincredible place! I am so proud to be a member of this community!

Yes - there are problems and bugs, but I am interracting with people in a way I never dreamed of in RL - what price can you apply to that?

So right click them, profile, then walk or TP away. Then rate and exit out. :) Sneaky rating's I've done this way always catch people by surprise. (Keep their profile up when you TP or walk away)

I've been rated but don't recall getting any kind of notice as to who did it, so maybe it doesn't show up or my noobishness is showing up, one of those.

Mykyl, enjoy SL. Find something you like to do in it, if it's just hanging out in a chatty bunch of people, so be it. :)
