Ever since voice has been online, and I updated to the latest voice enabled client I seem to be suffering constant lag, lower frame rates and the occaisional tasty lag spike that can last up to a minute.
Please tell me im not the only one experiencing this.
P.S. I've tried all the tricks, playing with max bandwidth settings graphics etc etc etc. To no avail.
-edit- I forgot to mention that the lag is still there after a cache clearance and starting SL with voice turned off, and after I close all the voice ports in my firewall that the client leaves open

I haven't updated to the voice client. But yeah I've been having unusually severe lag for roughly a week now, on & off. Basically it seems like since the rolling restart a week ago, to fix some voice issue. I'm not really sure that's what the rolling restart was really for, though.

I had little or no trouble before voice, except for the usual lag, but now its getting to be really bad. It's getting to the point where im thinking about dumping SL for good.......again. Sigh will things ever work as well as they did a year ago

I'm not convinced it's due to voice... I noticed a big drop in frame rate at least a couple of days prior to the main viewer being upgraded. I've also been using voice for weeks without any lag problems whatsoever. It could just be coincidental...

Yeah im starting to get to that stage now. So many times in the past i've contemplated it. But in the end stuck with it.
But now its getting crazy the last 2 or so months have been the worst in SL i've experienced so far and its really testing my patience with the game.
To be honest I think the lindens have totally lost focus with what they set out to acheive with second life. Either that or its just been a big hoax to coerce us into parting with hard earned cash. Who knows ?

Kris Yeah don't forget during that time what was made available ? yes that's right VOICE firstlook client that worked with the grid. I've noticed the lag ever since that came out. Maybe you're just lucky

Who knows ? I agree but since all the problems have started I have stopped spending and started trying to earn back some that I put into this game. It is very frustrating to pay for a game when you rarely enjoy it due to the issues going on everytime I log in, no use playing a game if you cannot even tp anywhere and then loosing crap when you go to rez it and not to mention loosing lindens by the 1000s....um yeah its about to the end of my patience.

Maybe you're just lucky Actually, the voice firstlook client has been out for many weeks and I miss it because it was (subjectively) faster and more reliable than the main client. Certainly didn't notice the lag getting significantly worse weeks ago, more like days ago. I noticed the main drop in performance after installing build 136 of firstlook (it was literally "OK" one minute and then "even worse than usual" 2 minutes later ) and the problem persists with the latest official viewer. BTW kris im not having a go at voice, I used it the couple of times I got it to work lol.
And yeah its much more fun than I thought it would be. But at the end of the day, if it's causing more problems than benefits they should have left it until they got everything else fixed up.
The people that wanted to speak were using teamspeak and skype and other methods before voice was even heard of.

I agree wholeheartedly on your last point squiz. Sooo many significant grid problems over the last couple of weeks ... LL should have allowed a reasonable period of stability (haha, ok, "relative" stability) before releasing a major new feature. Kris.

Kris. Yes but during the initial stages voice was not on %100 of the grid, that only happened a few days before the last voice Firstlook.

Anyway arguements and pettyness aside agree to disagree and all that.
Basically something is not right with the grid (again......) and the lindens need to fix it up and fast.

Kris same here been using voice for a few week, no lag problems until recently, (before voice offered on the reg client) I do not think the lag is anything to do with the voice I actually noticed my increased lag and sluggishness overall, about the time of the power outage in SF

I have noticed a pattern to the lag since the rolling restart on July 27th. Most of the sims that I spend time in seem to have their time dilation fluctuating wildly. Our sim will run well, then takes sudden drops to 0.01 for 5 to 10 seconds then will come back up. As the week has progressed it has gotten worse.
After the restarts yesterday it seemed to get marginally better, but is now just as bad as before. The events seem to be happening on a fairly regular schedule with some of the worst occuring on an hourly basis.
In the past there was a problem with the backup system in the sims causing incredible lag when each sim did an hourly backup. I am starting to wonder if this has been introduced again.
Actually it was interesting how many old bugs reappeared after the July 27th voice update.
The fact that all of this started after a 'voice only' patch makes voice look like the culprit, but with as all of the old bugs that were re-introduced, a lot more than voice must have been changed.
**edit** The same performance problems are occuring with the old client and the new voice client.
