It is happening again and again!
I log on and my FL is showing EVERYONE offline.
There's no way to correct it except relogging.
But if I relog, I get "Login failed ... your account will not be available until ..."
WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??

That's easy. You're supposed to start Resident Answers forum post number 38,450 to let everyone else know your Second Life isn't working, and that you're really pissed off. That is, after all, what Resident Answers is for, right? From: Daisy Rimbaud WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??

By the way, they know about the friends list problem, Torley has acknowledged it, it's in the Jira, and it's being investigated. Another inappropriate Resident Answers thread isn't going to escalate that process.

WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?? Patients..lol Take a breath... Relog... (the ..your account will not be ...message is normal and occures sometimes when you account is stuck logging out from a crash) - read that in the LL Knowledge base. If you don't see your friends list (because of the current bug) or your friends don't show online even if they are, press the IM button - sometimes that will show your friends that are online when your friends list doesn't. (Not a 100% cure - but it works most of the time).

Um .. evidently your not supposed to get sympathy from Zaphod.
Sorry you are having problems.
A more politely worded question might have been better received, but Im guessing your frustrated and angry.
The log on problem- wait about 15 minutes and you shoudl be able to get on, it happened to me earlier. I think its lag ralted were at 36+k so stuff slows down some.
My freinds list also isnt lagging. This has happened in the past as well during updates. If theres anyone you are really wondering about send them an IM if they are online it will likely update.
Or go to where they hang out ..
Good luck , The Lindens are working on it though. And its happeneing to a lot of people.

Another inappropriate Resident Answers thread isn't going to escalate that process. Come on Zaphod, you know JIRA is unnavigable for the non IT professional Then lets get a proper forum heading that all the complainers can use so that I can go directly to read that rather than read all the boring stuff on the rest of the threads. Some category like: How Linden Got it Wrong This Time or Let Me Vent About How Bad Support is Today honestly - I'm not kidding. We need a Dedicated Space on the Official Forum where people can vent.

Problem is, I don't see any mention about this FL problem among the next maintenance bug fixes... How long is it going to last ? At least the "friends online" webpage is working again so this a workaround...

I do 2 things, I just IM my friends even if they are shown as offline, even if it is just to say 'Hi, Have you made it in game? Have a great day'. If they are online, I get to speak to them, if not, they I have wished them a great day! As for not being able to relog, I get someone, or use an alt, to IM me and that tells the server you are really not there, then I can relog back straight away. Try both, it will ease your frustration and you get to say Hi to your friends.

Listen!
Making something user-friendly and function in a way a non-professional can understand is NOT dumbing down.
It's functional design. Something LL can't do.

An SL/RL chum last night informed me I was their only SL friend showing on the FL. She said she knew others were online cos she could see two of them LOL
My close RL/SL chums I had on ICQ long before I knew of SL. It's still a good backup in the present situation of lockups, lockouts and missing friends.

* Long's for the day his friends list is showing evryone offline * I just what to be left alone ... you know ? Annoying as it may be not to see your buddys popping up in your oh so long friends list ...its just not working for some . As pointed out ... just IM the friend you want to talk to .. if he/she is on ... your good ... if not ... they would have only showed as offline anyways

From: Colette Meiji Um .. evidently your not supposed to get sympathy from Zaphod. Actually, I am starting to get annoyed a bit by this to. I click 'new posts' and get a long list of little topics all about the same problem. If people are having trouble with something, I suggest they should rtff (read the effing forum) before they repost something we've been reading over and over again all day. Just look if there is already a thread about the subject (in this case there are a lot) and if you still feel the need to vent, do it in one of those existing topics. Right now it is just getting hard to filter out the useful threads among the repetitions of known issues.

I quite agree with the gist of what you say Suzy and sadly admit some of the forum regulars actually fail to search out these threads. More significantly though, many newcomers come here and despite the stickies, post either what for us is repetition or to my mind even worse, an issue with a blatantly non-descriptive title. How many of the present threads have utterly vague titles failing to describe the exact issue?

What I try not to look at .. not always successfully though.. is the Drama Queen posts... 'HELP ME!!!!!!!' followed by a shallow explaination of how they can't see their latest eXcite apendage in game.. which results in 999 posts asking questions, akin to extracting teeth using a blunt spoon, only to find out that the 999 posts before theirs was telling everyone SLExchange is off line.

It's all that and more. How many off topic threads begin with something like this: "I can't seem to find a suitable place for this [rant] so I'll just put it here." Taking such liberty to bust the rules and clutter the Resident Answers forum with OT posts, just to get your vent on, doesn't sit well with me, no matter how sympathetic I may be to the underlying frustration. From: bilbo99 Emu I quite agree with the gist of what you say Suzy and sadly admit some of the forum regulars actually fail to search out these threads. Right now it is just getting hard to filter out the useful threads among the repetitions of known issues. Sure - I get annoyed by too. But making mistakes on where to post and what to post about doesnt mean the person doesnt deserve a little consideration for the problems that are frustrating them. There will always be people who are too annoyed, or just not forums Savvy enough to search the forums and blogs for the related threads. Best way to handle it is just try a simple post pointing them at the more active thread the complaint points to and letting the offending thread fade into obscurity.

Lennon also said "Happiness is a warm gun." Look where that got him.

Right now it is just getting hard to filter out the useful threads among the repetitions of known issues. Well thank you very much for your help. As it happens, I did look for an existing thread and didn't see one at the time I posted. In any case, the issue here is not just the snarled FL problem, but that one doesn't dare try to relog. If you don't have much time online, and you have a lot to get done, then having to wait 15 mins is no small matter.
