Is it not possible for my 15yr old to join the teen grid using my computer?
All attempts at creating a first basic account result in his being sent to the SL homepage.

If you already have an account on the SL adult Grid, From my understanding, SL uses some sort of IP address recognition to identify the computers logging in "At the source". Your computer is "registered" as belonging to an Adult SL Player, and there is Probably Insufficient Differentiation in the system to allow for an Adult SL account, and a Teen SL account from the same IP address. You would need a seperate Modem, and Log on to your ISP In Order to look like two Seperate clients to the SL system.

This is my Best Guess based upon what i know of SL security.

Angel.

I suspect you might want to email support@secondlife.com, call the toll free support number, and or send an email to Blue Linden, the "Teen Grid Community Manager", his email address should be blue@lindenlab.com .

I'm pretty sure LL will be able to accomodate you.

We really appreciate the effort you're making to keep honest when there's nothing stopping your son from being logged onto the main grid as well.

Don't worry, it's only for three years.

P.S. Consider checking out the Teen Grid Transfer Station in the Main Grid in advance... the Lindens do consider it something worth celebrating when a teenager comes of age and become eligible to roam the bigger Main Grid. You might want to make arrangements to be there when it happens.

Do you happen to use a switch for multiple computers or do you only have 1 router?

I've done okay with NAT and a router using two copies of SL on separate computers.

The system probably realises that some people need to do multiple logins from the same location at times, especially in the case of people running companies with multiple accounts for different tasks. It'd spill over into allowing multiple accounts in general, I think - there's no visible flag for commercial SL accounts as opposed to SL accounts opened primarily for the fun and companionship of it.
