I was wondering, is there ANY way at all to report anything that isn't active abuse to anyone actually in Linden Labs, short of calling the support telephone number?
I've never seen a game before that didn't have some way to ask developers questions or say I don't like something and would like it changed.
It seems to me if they've really cut themselves off, to the point they are only listening IBM and the other big businesses that want o make money off of us, that eventually this will just be one big corporate virtual mall.
This strikes me as sort of stupid, since their million active people will probably shrink as the game becomes less and less responcive to all the sheep they want to shear or to sacrifice to the Gods of Corporation.
Seriously, is there ANY way to let em know I hate the group IM leaving session notification from scores of people fleeing if someone asks a question?
Or that I want to turn off the stupid 'Buy Pass' at my neighbor, ALPHAWOLFEN Jibilla, property border becasue my land is so small I can see it on the FAR borfer of my patch?
This sure seems to me like a 'Shut up and BUY something' attitude from Linden Labs. I mean I like the game (or world or whatever it is) but really...I'm starting to get annoyed.

Conversely, I've never played a game where players directly contacted the developers about things they want changed. Admittedly I've never played an MMO like WOW or something, only single-player console games. I'm just saying, there aren't hordes of Final Fantasy players calling the headquarters of Squaresoft. I hate that too. I also sometimes don't close open IM sessions because I don't want to bug the other person with "Johan Durant has left" messages, with the result that my IM window gets cluttered up with unused tabs. Is there any point to the notifications when people leave?

As far as I know, there is nothing you can do about your neighbors green lines except ask them to put you on the access list. I will IM the neighbor and promise I will never trespass, but just want to be added so the lines can be removed. 60% of the time, they will do it for you.

To answer your question on the IM do a Bug Report. Your question about 'Buy Pass', no you cannot turn off their options, but you can ask the parcel owner to add you to the assess list. Also you can visist Linden Village to talk to a live Linden some of them have regular office hours. This link have more methods to contact LL. http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/04/25/support-update/

Sorry, I was thinking of big MMOs, not consoles, and actually I just meant that they usually had like a /feedback or /bug report and also usually actually read the forums, at least one or two of them. You'd look at the forum and you'd see something like 'Developer Questions or Devs Corner or something, and you could often post right there. Some times they even answered At least you had SOME way to sort of blow off steam, and maybe actually have an effect.

You've never played Quake or Doom? That place was full of griefers, and I don't recall ever seeing a 'Live Help' button.

I can't seem to find a Bug Report but I'll look again, maybe I'm just blind. The bug report was why I started to want to talk to someone in the first place

I think Linden Lab need to change their customers expections. They should market Second Life has a dangerous place full of nasty slimey bugs and bad men with guns, and the aim of the game is to avoid being shot in the ass! "Your ass, your problem"

It's not under Help, no it's a tool.

Don't expect a response from a bug report - that's not the purpose of a bug report. It's a one way communication in most cases: you to them. If you want to talk to a linden, check out Linden Village or IM one.

They also said that moving the bug report button there is merely a precurser to removing it entirely.
They expect people to report things on Jira instead.

coco This is a wise move, despite Jira being incredibly weird to use. It's good to be able to track our bug reports. Previous to Jira, you could report a bug through the client and not have any idea on what had happened to it. We was often left wondering if anybody had even read the thing.

Jira is the public bug tracking system, which allows residents and Lindens to submit submit bugs, reproductions, comments and votes. It's a very transparent system where you can see which bugs are assigned to a Linden and which have patches attached.

You have to find it (I forget where it is) and sign up for it (or at least I did, when it first began), then figure out how to use it.

the last time i tried to use that jira system without someone saying "go to this link here" i ended up searching 20 bizzillion issues, gave up and opened one of my own and started it with something like "there is probably an open ticket in this mess but i can't find it so i am starting a new one if you find it please stick it with the rest of the pile" and then listed my issue
you almost have to know the bug in order to use the open threads on them otherwise your stuck scratching your head...

I don't find it hard to use...you set up your filters based on what you're looking for (if you're just searching and not reporting for example) or you can search by bug #. Reporting is very easy as well.
You simply register with your SL name and password. Simple.
However, if you're not using it correctly, don't expect to get your bug looked at. It needs to be complete and detailed information, including your machine stats.
I look at it like a campaign of sorts. I vote for the bugs that bug me the most...and if I am submitting a major bug, I link the heck out of it on blogs (etc) and try to get others to vote for it as well.

well, don't think this is it either..I tried my best today to update my credit card info for them so they could take money off me, but to no avail. The submission form on the site doesn't work; there's nobody home answering the phones to take the info; sent an email now, probably never get any response to that either so I guess my time in game is going to come to a halt shortly as my membership is coming due and there seems no way available to pay these goofs. Weird-a$$ way to run a business if you ask me.
