Just wanted to say that the new accounts history page is awesome. Nice to see the totals again like it once was in-world.

SO much easier to read

The totals definitely are a nice addition, but easier to read? Maybe you're just referring to the numbers or something, because the text of who purchased and what was purchased is a lot harder to read now.

Wasn't there already a thread about this?

I love the totals too and I am very thankful for this feature.

However, I do not find the new layout to be easier to read. In fact, I find it much harder to read for some purposes. Because some of the data that was once displayed in columns is now presented in block format (presumably due to a lack of horizontal screen real estate), scanning for things like sales of a particular item, or to verify a purchase by an individual, is now much harder.

I hope improvements to this page will continue. Here is what I would like to see:

1. Lose the first two columns entirely to make more room. I don't need an arbitrary sequence number (the first column) and the transaction number (the second column). If these things are somehow useful, include them in the downloadable version. Seeing them on the screen does nothing for the usefulness of this report and just takes up space.

2. Break the following items back into their own columns: date/time, type, description and source.

3. Abbreviate the formatting of date/time (use the most compact formating that possible) and for type, just give me a letter code, like S for sale.

4. Lose the last column which presents a running balance. Why do I need this? I need a starting balance and an ending balance. If you want to include the running balance in the downloadable version, knock yourself out.

5. Increase the maximum number of days that are available from 30 to 45. At the end of each month, I would like to download the month's transactions. Right now this is virtually impossible to do well, and if I forget for a couple of days ... the virtually impossible becomes absolutely impossible.

5. Sorting: Allow me to sort by any of the columns by clicking on the column header.

6. Subtotals: When I sort by item description, give me subtotals breaking on item description.

Items 1-5 could be done in a day or two. Sorting and subtotals would be a bit harder and I could live without them.

Anyway, that is my two cents :)

aw, I like the running balance. But yeah, what's up with the first two columns? The important stuff gets all squished together, but numbers that don't matter get their own luxurious spaces.

Yeah, I kinda figured some people like that. But for the life of me I cannot figure out what it could be useful for. I guess if you are looking at more than one day, it could be used to see where you landed at the end of each day? Of course, subtotals could do that too. Just curious, but what do you find the running total useful for?

No rational use, I just like it. It's reassuring to see how the balance changes with each transaction. If it's taking up too much space then it could go; a slight psychological comfort is certainly nowhere near as important as having clear columns to display the transaction details.

You know what? I agree with you. The running balance column should stay for exactly the reason you indicate.

As long as the downloaded Excel version of the data remains in seperate columns, I suppose I don't care. If they make the downloaded version look like the web one does, they will trash most of the use of the data, as it will be inpossible to search or sort properly.

The sequential line numbers are completely useless. The only value I see in those is as an indicator that the list got capped at 500 entries.
