If your account is verified using a credit card, the card will be refunded when you make the transaction. The conversion is taken care of automatically.

The best way to transfer your Lindens is, as far as I'm aware, not now.
I think (correct me if I'm wrong) the only way to transfer $L is to sell them for USD. Now, you'll get a reasonable price for your $L in terms of USD, but unless you have a bank account specifically for USD, those USD will immediately be sold for GBP. You will not get a reasonable price for your USD. In fact you'll be selling them very, very, very, very low. About 2 USD to the GBP, in fact (1.999 according to xe.com right now).
Unless you desperately need the cash, I'd hold off on selling until the USD to GBP rate is a bit more favourable for selling USD.
In contrast, now is a very good time to buy USD since they're so cheap (and hence you can get more like 540 $L to the pound than 380 $L which it would 'usually' be).
DISCLAIMER: My understanding of the way payments are processed may be wrong and my understanding of economics in general is simplistic at best.

In my experience paypal seem to make up the exchange rates as they go as well. The final amount in GBP allways seem to be less than what some of leading currency converter sites report. At the end of the day though i make virtual money in a virtual world and turn that into cold hard cash so even if the value of the dollar droped by half over night I would still cash out as its pretty much money for nothing!
You may feel differently if you have heavily invested RL GBP into the game and are only looking at a very small profit margin. May be better to wait for the Dollar to strenghen as an earlier poster suggested.

If I recall correctly, you can set PayPal to give you a seperate US$ balance to spend on other things from PayPal in US$. (But that said, if you want to do that, it may actually be a good idea to convert them to UKP because I believe the exchange rate is still going up.)
Also if you want to use it for tier or SL purchases you can just leave it in your SL account, of course.

From: Porky Gorky In my experience paypal seem to make up the exchange rates as they go as well. The final amount in GBP allways seem to be less than what some of leading currency converter sites report. Paypal does take a 2.5% commission on currency exchanges; are you allowing for that? I don't use Paypal... I think the 2.5% is higher than what my card charges me for currency exchanges (though I can't at the moment remember what my card does charge me). As I said, I don't use Paypal, but that thought did half-cross my mind when I was writing my response. If it had fully crossed my mind, I think I would have said it. As for the exchange rate still going up, well yes, but it's slowing. I don't really think it can go much further... But hey, I could easily be proved wrong.

nationwide doesnt charge you for foreign transfers, so there will be no... conversion fee, upon withdrawal or buying of L$.
just use your visa debit card on the linden website.

From: gray Brennan hi guys thanx for all the replys,,ok im still wondering can i get a cheque sent to me as payment instead of paypal? for all the lindens i want to cash in, or is there also other ways? There are only two ways of getting cash out, PayPal and checks. You can get a check sent to you anywhere in the world, denominated in US$. Outside of the USA, you must process out at least $100 and pay a $15 fee.
