Music through voice chat without mic.

Hello.

I used to play music to friends through voice chat for fun but now my mic is broken...friend says its possible to have voice chat play back directly from pc speaker but didnt remember how exactly it was done.

can anyone help me?

if the speaker output signal is equal to the microphone input wave, you have a direct transfer. this can be done with a wire, or Stereo extention cable. I don't know if it can be done internally system wise though.

If you want people to hear you, via voice, it's best to just get a mic. You can find them at Best Buy, Circuit City, Radio Shack, or any other place with a decent amount of computer peripherals.

Priced from $15-$35 (headset and mic combo). Or you can get a standard PC mic...but that's so...1997.

it's possible to pipe your audio output BACK INTO your voice feed. I think it's called "Stereo Mix" in the advanced audio volume sliders. Doing this can turn your Voice feed into a little portable shoutcast stream. So you can continue to share your audio feed with your friends.

However, doing this, is likely to make a lot of people mute you.

People who play music on the voice chat channel should be shot, then hung, drawn and quartered, and defenestrated.

Stop inflicting your noise on everybody else!

Funny, I say the same about people who TALK via voice. (cough, laugh, sing, shout, have sex-talk)

As opposed to people who ramble on endlessly in voice; or turn their volume up way too high; or have crappy mics or headsets that constantly play static, noises and feedback; or people who don't use push to talk so we can hear the mouth breathers, the cud chewing cows eating their food, their cell phone ringtones, their cell phone conversation about their most recent appointment with their gynecologist in all it vivid details.....

If someone is using the voice channel to play music on their parcel and the parcel is big enough to keep that from bothering the neighbors, what's the problem?

A couple of musician friends of mine do this regularly to try out new tunes on us without having to pay for a stream.

Someone told me a while ago it was possible to use your headphones as a mic. How that would work is well beyong me coz I´ve never tried. Mebe someone less blonde will come along who knows.

For windows users :

Hit your little speaker ICON in your task tray

Goto to 'Recording Devices' check box 'Stereo Mix' and uncheck Microphone.
you will prolly want to turn down teh volume to like 10 to 15% if you leave it full blast it will come out very distorted and crappy

now anything you play on you pc that you hear on your speakers can be broadcast thru the voice channel when you hit the 'open mic' button (center mouse button or button on UI)

this is very usefull if you want to share music and if you want to play a youtube video and share teh audio with those around you.

It can be alot of fun to 'dj' diffrent stand up comics from youtube clips inworld thru voice.

Any speaker and every speaker is also a microphone, the smaller Earbud type headphones work best as microphones if you have an old set somewhere just plug it into the microphone hole in your computer and talk into it, it will work pretty good.

the only thing about it that is kinda annoying is you gotta hold it up to your mouth rather then havin a headset that has the mic on a stick so you can use it hand free
