For some odd reason, when I try to run multiple clients in Vista all subsequent clients crash once the first one has loaded. I get an error message. This message appears in the client window, and is not a windows dialogue box it is a client dialogue box (see link below for screenshot). I have, of course, added the "-multiple" suffix onto the target path in the Properties menu, as one would do with XP. Is the proceedure different for Vista? Any ideas anyone?

Did you configure the port your second (and third?) clients were listening on before login? That *might* cause that, it's the first thing i would try.

No, I didn't. That was never necessary with XP, and I have only moved to Vista in the last few days. How do I do that?

Try the port switch as part of the cmd
-port <number>

Hope this fixes your problem. Is your firewall configured?

For some reason the suffix "-set SystemLanguage en-us" was present in the target path of the official client. I am now able to run one copy of the nicholaz client and one copy of the official one - but not multiple copies of either. This will have to suffice for now I suppose. I can only hope that LL fix the memory leak on the official version soon.

I am also running on Vista and use "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -multiple to run multiple SL windows. I had the language tag you posted and just deleted it and put what I pasted here in and all works dandy now. The issue seems to be the mod you are running? I have to look up the threads about it and try it out. Good luck with your multiple clients!

Vista or nicholaz?

I wonder if Vista is the issue or if it's the nicholaz viewer that doesn't support the -multiple tag.

Yup. Here too. My workaround:

I deleted the" -set SystemLanguage en-us" and replaced with the -multiple suffix; partitioned a new drive and installed a second version of SL on the other drive. Two clients run now ok.

Not sure if it is necessary, but that's what worked for me in Vista.

Good luck. x

I cannot run multiple copies of the official sl client either.

Nice thinking! My laptops harddrive came partitioned too, so I won't have to do much. Will try that, as the memory leak on the official version is killing me trying to run that and the Nicholaz version at the same time.

i have vista. i kept the language coding in my shortcut, and simply put -multiple in front of it, only one space away from the "exe" and i can run 2 windows simultaneously.
