Hi,

I keep getting told that it is possible to have geographically remote musicians perform together and stream the results into SL, but I have been unable to find any information about how this is done or what is required.

Can anyone first of all confirm that this is possible, and, if so, point me at where I can find out how?

cheers

It's absolutely possible I have heard it done many times. I don't know much about the mechanics of it but I know that one musician starts off the streaming to the other, and then the second one sends the stream to SL. The tricky part is the 1st guy can not hear what the 2nd guy is playing.

Ah I suspected a gotcha along those lines. Still interested in how to do it though.

You'd have to set up the "collaboration" outside SL and combine/mix it into one stream and feed that into your parcel, I would think.

There are a couple of online collaboration software solutions available today that create a controlled latency so that musicians across the globe can collaborate together and hear each other during sessions.

Installed first the one then the other. Both crash on startup. I'm guessing my wanky ASIO drivers for the Mackie Spike. Shame coz it's a belter in all other respects.

Off to try ASIO4U
